Oh how sweet...A murder mystery for children.

My library has this shelved in the children's department, but I think a book about the murder of a teenage girl belongs in the young adult department, so that's the shelf I'm putting it on. I certainly would not recommend this book for anyone under "almost 15," which is the protagonist's age.

I think it's really strange that we live in a culture where reading about murder is a form of entertainment. I find reading about murder very distasteful. I only
OMG!!! I loved this book! It is sorta a mystery and sorta not! lol! ! loved it!

This book was about a fourteen-year-old girl who visits her family at a cabin in a place called Crystal Lake with her mother. There has been a murder in the family and it has effected the family a lot. The real mystery is who was really the murderer. My opinion of this book is that it is a good murder mystery story. It's a little twisted but that is what makes it all the better and kept me wanting to read more. The author creates realistic characters, plot, and setting. I would definitely recomm ...more
I am reviewing the book Twisted Summer by Willow Davis Roberts. Cici is a girl who goes to the lake every summer and she hasn’t been there for two summers because of family issues at home. She gets to the lake this summer and she heard about a murder that happened a few months ago here. It was Zoe who got murdered but no one really knows for sure who did it. I really enjoyed this book because it always got me on the edge of my seat, and i had a really hard time of putting this book down so I rec ...more

Cici and her family usually go to the lake every summer, but last summer they went to Hawaii for her dad's work. When i first heard this, i thought
Oh, 15-year-old solves a murder!
Seems legit.
Actually, my teacher said she was 12 first.
I was a liiittle skeptical.
BUT! Our main sleuth, Cici, is 15. So it's all good.
How it goes down..

Cici has gone to the Lake every summer, until last year. Who would skip out on a chance to go to Hawaii?
Anyways, what's going to happen in one summer?
As it turns out,
a lot.
When she returns, Cici is looking forward to a summer of bonfires, music, the lake, and tanning. Most importan
Eh, this was a okay-ish quick read. Being around the age of the main character, she wasn't that relatable; even with young adult fiction. This book was written a little while ago, but the plot and relatablity could be better. The 15-year-old character wanted to be considered "a big kid" but as far as standars go, 15 is a "big kid" today. The love story seemed a little cliche, and the plot was a rollercoaster going up, up, up, up, then down a little ways. Pretty basic, but the idea for the book a ...more
While there are holes in the beginning of the story, this is still a good mystery and kept me guessing up until the end. The characters seemed a bit flat.
Full of twists an entertaining read.

I liked the way the author made the main character get frustrated with people; it made the girl always want to know what was going on. There was a kid, her friend that she used to know, who killed a girl and she wanted to know what happened and where and everything like that. I liked how she freaked out over everything when people didn't want to tell her. It surprised me when she went there because she'd have weird flash backs and memories of the kid who killed the girl. The author is a good wri ...more

This book had several positive reviews; however, I was not impressed. The writing seemed simplistic to me and the plot didn't hold my attention like a mystery should. More so, I feel like the author implied the murder victim in the novel was partly responsible for her murder because of the way she dressed and flirted with boys and men. I thought the reviewers would have recognized this victim blaming and mentioned it in the reviews.

This isn't a bad mystery, but it does move pretty slowly. Most of the real action happens at the end. I finished it in an afternoon so at least it wasn't that slow a read. Cici and Jack are pretty good characters, but most of the other characters, including the murder girl's family, are not well described. At least this mystery tied up nicely unlike the Sally Lockhart one.
Fourteen-year-old Cici hopes for a romantic summer at the beach, but instead finds herself trying to solve a murder which had occurred there the previous year. A book for 11 years old and up. Great for 6th graders. This was a mystery that will keep you in suspense till the end. Lots of old town secrets come to light.

This book is GOOD. Willo Davis Roberts made such a wonderful mixture of mystery and suspense. She almost (very close, so close) had me hook, line, and sinker. I really think that people should read her books, becuase I feel that she's pretty great at writing novels. Anyway, read/ reread. You'll love it. ...more

This is an amazing book. If you like mystery and action. I think that the main character, CiCi, is really out going and thinks with her mind and her heart. She goes out to try to solve the mystery and thinks of her friends first. So you should read this book I would totally rate this book five stars.
I enjoyed this book. It was worth reading. The suspense lasted through the whole book and it was very surprising who the killer turned out to be. The book was very descriptive that I visualized it so clearly and fell in love with Jack, one of the characters.I'd either give it a high 3 or a low 4.

This is a fantastic book! I really loved the mood and tone of it and it kept me guessing till the very end! It's a great mystery novel, but at the same time many other things contribute to the overall greatness of the story. It's not just strictly a "mystery novel."

This book was intriguing and I couldn't put it down, but I feel like the ending could have been stronger. It didn't quite match up with the strength of the book. However the "Whodunit" and the "Why?" factors kept me involved until the very last page.

I think that this book is the best i love a little romance and mystery
I NEVER would have thought that the judge sent brodey to jail while he knew who the real killer was. I also never would have thought he would try to scare cici off by shooting 3 inches above her head!!!!! this was an awesome book!

".. pretty is as pretty does. Some people with too much good looks don't bother to develop personality, like kindness and consideration for other people, nor character."

good enough for an easy but quite suspenseful read.
I loved Willo Davis Roberts growing up, and this was one of my favorites. I actually won a signed copy when I was younger, like 5th grade, but it got really damaged when I moved, which is really sad.
I thought this book was full of suspense. It was really surprising who the killer turned out to be because the whole time I was pretty much convinced it was the Judge.
This book is full of suspense! It's great for people who like to read suspense books. Once you start reading it you can;t put it down.
