The third book in the Poppleton series, Poppleton Everyday highlights a few of the pig’s everyday experiences, including a tumultuous sailboat ride, a shopping trip for a new bed, and stargazing. Poppleton charms with his quirky adventures that resolve almost as quickly as they initially fell apart.

1st or 2nd grade students would thoroughly enjoy reading this book independently. The stories are humorous and easy to follow, peppered with relevant vocabulary and predictable sentence structures. S

From School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2--This sincere and affable pig will make beginning readers giggle with three new adventures. In "The Sky," Poppleton and his pal Hudson, a mouse, stargaze in the backyard. When Hudson notices that his friend's eyes are closed, the pig explains that the vast night sky makes him dizzy. The mouse then cuts a small hole in a blanket and places it over Poppleton's face. Now he sees only a "tiny sky." In the second episode, Poppleton shops fo

Good early chapter book about Poppleton (the pig) and his everyday adventures with friends. The text is repetitive, following a Q & A format - which is a good connection to dialogue and punctuation. Chapters in this book: The Sky The New Bed, The Sailboat

Recommends it for: all my young nieces and nephews and their parents
With a new reader at home, I've had a lot of exposure to different easy reader books. I am especially impressed with those who can tell and interesting story with easy vocabulary. It is especially impressive when the author includes moral lessons and subtle humor (makes listening more fun for the adults).

The Poppleton books are my current favorite. Poppleton is a loveable pig, with loyal friends Hudson the mouse, Filmore the goat, and Cherrie Sue the llama (my personal favorite as well as Peter'

Poppleton continues his adventures, this time experiencing the fear and thrill of boating (and capsizing), motion sickness (and it's cure) from star gazing, and the grandeur of having a brand new bed!

Fun illustrations.

26 months - my daughter really enjoys a number of easy reader chapter like books. It's nice to mix things up a bit with the picture books for something a bit more wordy. Poppleton Is always doing something oddly entertaining.

I have not yet met a young child who doesn't love Poppleton (though I expect there must be some somewhere). Sweet stories about Poppleton and his friends for early readers that also work well read aloud to younger children.

A good first chapter book for emerging readers. Poppleton is a favorite among first and second grade readers, as is the author, Cynthia Rylant.
