As a children's librarian, I had a love/hate relationship with pop-up books. I loved them because they were fantastically cool, so cool that kids always wanted to check them out, which was great. What I didn't like was how quickly the ones that were for circulation fell apart, or even worse, some of the more elaborate pop-up books were turned into reference books and could not be checked out at all. I love Bob Staake's bright illustrations, and the pop-ups in this one are cool, but the book just falls flat for me. The ending seems completely unrelated and odd.
Nice big pop ups simple text and a fun book. I read this to my 2 year old nephew and he loved it. It was tough enough for the gentle 2 touch. Ages 2+

A Beautiful new popup from Bob Staake! Boys loved it. Going to share it with the PJStorytimers before the library kids destroy it! :)
Why, this came just in time for next week! Adorable pop-ups that make for a great interactive read with antsy little kids.
Bright, detailed, pop-up pictures are the focus, with just a few words throughout.

Bob Staake has authored and/or illustrated more than forty-two books, including The Red Lemon, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children’s Book of the Year. His work has graced the cover of The New Yorker a dozen times, and his November 17, 2008 Barack Obama victory cover was named Best Magazine Cover of the Year by Time magazine. He lives on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts.
