Some days, a girl just can't catch a break ... especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there's her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It's not just that they can't have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him...more

I must be getting old, 'cause I really have no patience with these immature characters this time around. It is very hard to care about a couple who treat each other in such a deplorable, disrespectful, vile way. Oh, the things they do to each other in the name of so called love!

And don't even get me started on Georgina! She definitely needs to stop her reluctant succubus act and embrace her slutty personality. I mean, she can repeat as much as she wants that she does not like being a succubus, s...more

Georgina Kinkaid is experiencing some very vivid dreams. Each dream is followed by a drain of her energy. Georgina must find out why this is happening.

This was a fun book to read. I enjoyed the combination of the immortal world – the angels, nephilim, assorted demons and imps, and deities combined with the mortal world.

There are so many things I liked about this book. The dialogue was very clever, full of great lines. Georgina’s friends and associates crack me up. They seem normal and do norma...more

Okay, I'm in two minds about this book.

First of all, I enjoyed it, and that's what you're supposed to get out of a book. It was a good read. Heartbreaking in parts, funny and hilarious in others.

There's a problem with this series though that majorly bothers me. I always figure out the mystery LONG before it's revealed and this book was even worse than the others in this one regard. I had figured out every major reveal by halfway through the book. That isn't good writing.

The actual characters, se...more

Georgina, Succubus extraordinaire, juggles a new protégée, some new angels and a few more immortals all while working hard to maintain her ever complicated romantic life. Bits of her past come back to haunt her and just when everything seems to be perfect more complications arise.

Georgina is a complex character. What she is, a succubus, is often a direct contrast to what she wants and how she feels, making her a demon with a heart and a conscience. It creates some interesting problems and makes...more

***Re-read with friends in August 2011 in prep for the series finale***

I'm loving this series even better the second time around. All of the minor complaints that I had the first time reading aren't even an issue now because I know what's going on and now I can just enjoy the characters and mystery of what's going on.

***original review***

Before I get to the good stuff, let me get my two complaints out there :

1. This was the third book in a row that started slow. Having to wait several chapters...more

If I loved this series before, this book proves that I am completely and utterly addicted. I wasted a good hour this morning finishing up this book. I say waste because, er... I should have been writing an essay for my film theory class. But frankly? This book is worth it.

Wow. I... just, wow. The novel's plot itself is engaging, the mystery is interesting (if a bit easy to solve, once a few pieces fall together), and Richelle Mead's writing is (as always) funny and engrossing.

But what really got...more

An estrogen fest. That's what I felt like about this chapter of Georgina Kincaid's story.

I could see a million miles in advance what would happen with Maddie. That was not a surprise to me, but it didn't stop my crying. I didn't use to cry when I was younger, but as my hormones approach middle-age I tend to get weepy at more in life. And, this story really got to me. I guess you have faith in love, and this was quite a sad turning point in the story.

I have faith that things will be uplifting aga...more

Complete and total surprise.

I started this series not expecting to like it at all. I mean, for crying out loud, it's about a succubus that can't sleep with men without taking away their life force and corrupting their soul. What can you do with that? Kind of difficult to spin a love story in there somewhere, right?

But the Georgina Kinkaid series took me by surprise and I have to say it's now one of my favorites. Richelle Mead did a great job utilizing the complicated nature of the succubus issue...more

I don't know how I feel about this book. It definitely was another gripping tail of succubuses, demons, angels etc... But, I'm upset now.

I've also decided I no longer love Seth.

I've now decided I possibly am in love with Carter.

Also...Jerome sucks! Oh, and...my hot Georgina had better get some sweet lovin' in the next book or I may throw a fit. Okay, maybe I won't, but still.

This third book in the series was such a chaos of emotions and I don't know whether to throw the book or caress it. I me...more

Holy shit. Did that really happen?

As always, once I get into Georgina's world there is nothing and no one that can keep me away. The installments are utterly captivating, and I swear that they will keep you well entertained. Georgina is just the kind of woman we all secretly and not so secretly want to be, full of confidence and basically full of life, but she has her fucked up side as well. I can't really believe things went down the way they did, but...more

I don't like Georgina Kincaid. Haven't liked her from the beginning and continue to not like her as the series progresses. But for some inexplicable reason, I continue to read these books. With this third installment, I found that accepting the fact that I do not like Georgina made it much easier for me to, well... like reading about her.

On a positive note, one thing I love about the Succubus books is that we continually see "evil" people behaving quite decently and "good" people behaving badly...more

Okay, I'm so pissed at this book, and totally loved it. It ruins the typical HEA of most stories and I can't believe the ending! It's a good book and made me cry, which means I'm totally in the moment. But damn I so wanted it to end differently. I won't make any spoiler comments, because I didn't know what was going to happen. I am also forming my favorite characters and my lesser faves, which makes it a fun read.

Definitely DEFINITELY read this series from the beginning...it's the slow build of...more

I'm begging for divine punishment, but can I just ship Carter/Georgie? As if this books wasn't a big cry fest anyway.
That is all.

If someone would have said I'd be reviewing a work on the paranormal, I'd probably have laughed at them. However, a couple of my Amazon friends reviewed the works in the Georgina Kincaid series, and I simply had to take a look. Their reviews were that enticing.

Against all odds, I began reading the works in the series and became hooked! This one is the third in that series. The theme is intriguing. Georgina, a succubus, is to train a not very adept succubus. In addition, the imp who took her soul...more

I started this day in a great mood, it being Valentine's Day, and having been showered with gifts and all. Now, I'm in this terrible funk and shitty mood, and it's all due to this book. Well, it's all due to the end of this book. Nay, it's all due to fucking Seth. No, not the good kind of fucking, but the bad kind... as in, 'That Seth character is such a f

This book is definitely my favourite in the series so far. Except for the ending. Mead reminded me just how good she is at bringing out readers' emotions in her books. I haven't seen story-weaving this good from Mead since I read the Vampire Academy series.

Succubus Dreams is an emotional read. Georgina is immortal - she is blessed with living forever. And while this might sound really good, it has its downside. Georgina can't have kids and she can't safely fall in love with a human. He'll either...more

Now that I've listened to 3 of the books on Audiobook?

Pretty much. I'm going to read all the Richelle Mead novels, now.

(view spoiler)[I know Georgina's contract was messed up. She's going to get out of it, eventually, because she gets her ability to have children back. Nyx only showed her what was true, and she showed her a child and a husband.

I'm so mad at Seth. SO MAD!!!

He could have told Mattie that while he liked her, he couldn't have a sexual relationship with her, but alas, he chose the "

(view spoiler)[When I read books, what I cannot stand is infidelity. Because when the cheating occurs between the main character and someone else it always means that the main character will justify it in some way. The fact is, nothing justifies it and if you think that the "once a cheater, always a cheater" quote doesn't apply to you then you're a fool. The fact is, if you or your significant other can stray once then there's always a chance it'll be repeated. It doesn't have to be the fact tha...more

Wow, this was so much more emotional than I expected it to be. Forget the Seth drama. Georgina's dream just about broke my heart. If we're talking about preying on someone's weakness, this one will do the job. I hope she gets her happy ending by the end of this series.

Reading this book, I came to understand what I've been missing out on with Richelle Mead. She creates these characters who are able to draw so many emotions out of you. Literally, it's an emotional roller coaster, but with the ligh...more

The last book finished with a 'Happy High', a 'Woop Woop' and smiles from ear to ear... This book finished with a 'Devastaed Downer' a 'F*ck No' and tears that wet my pillow!!!! W.T.F??????

Again, LOVED the storyline, all the various things going on and ALL of the questions being answered. I ADORE the characters, dislike the ones I'm supposed to and try to give the new guys a good hearing (doesn't always work though!)

I LOVE that I hate the way this book ended, the characters are at a point in the...more

Georgina Kincaid is one and unlike in how literature has depicted, she is real and she does take the life force away by luring in men and shape shifting and answering to Hell’s payroll system. As once human, she is haunted by her emotions of guilt, longing and sadness. Call her the melodramatic succubus. With friends such as two colorful vampires, an arch daemon, an imp, and an angel and the balancing act of living like a mortal, life couldn’t be more exciting.

All seems ordinary to Georgina not...more

I can't point to any specific reason, but I just really like this series. I think it's that even though they have a fair amount of steaminess, it never feels like their main purpose (i.e. they're a supernatural mystery series with sex, rather than a romance series with a supernatural mystery.) Georgina's an entertaining character--an inherently good person who, thanks to a few bad choices a millennium ago, now has to work on the side of darkness (though it never seems all that dark, what she and...more

Sorry guys! Prepare for a long diatribe because this book just pissed me off!! I won't lie, I loved it. For some reason only Richelle Mead can put me through complete emotional torture and I will beg for more.

Seth, Oh, Seth, how I hate thee!

So, it was almost like Seth exchanged with a body snatcher. None of what he said or did made any sense. I could believe an arch-demon in my living room before I believed anything out of his mouth. The following is how I saw the course of events.
