My mom was going through my old stuff and found this book. I LOVED "Clip Clop" as a child. I asked to have it read to me all of the time. I was especially fascinated by the two-page spread of dozens of unusual shoes. In fact, I liked it so much I took it upon myself to illustrate the title page:

And from the back page, here's my rendition of the little-known "second" ending, in which Clip Clop magically grows wings and flies through the air:

There were only 2 books for me when I was being read to by my Mom every night... Clip Clop and the Little Lost Puppy. I think my addiction to shoes began at age 2. Zappos was equally as mesmerizing for many years before bed just looking at all those shoes and where would you wear them!!! Then I remembered CLIP CLOP !!! We are programmed so young ! I loved ClipClop and still do.

Conrad loves horses AND shoes! This is one of his favorite books and one that I've had in my library as a wee one. It introduces the idea of having different shoes for different activities and has cute illustrations of Clip Clop imagining himself in the different types of shoes his people friends are wearing. It makes me want saddle shoes even more.

I found this book at my mom and dad's house a few days ago. I nearly wet my pants. I read this book at least a million times when I was a child. I LOVED IT!!! Now it is sitting on my shelf amongst my other most loved books.

I would probably give this book one and a half stars.
The concept is often quite humorous, and Nancy Hoag steers the short story well, with the help of excellent illustrations by Florence Sarah Winship. This is a good picture book.

Clip Clop was one of my favorites as a child. It's not one of my children's favorites but I have read it to them a couple of times.
