This one was an interesting enough diversion. I was hooked right off the bat by the premise, but was not very impressed with the writing and found it increasingly formulaic and predictable the further I went. Think teen horror movie as a book.

Allison is one of six seventeen-year-olds to have survived the tragic fire that killed their parents and all other members of a religious cult five years earlier. Well, they didn't just survive the fire, they're responsible it; they were hopi More...

The Unspoken is about the teen survivors of a creepy cult that their parents belonged to. The kids escaped five years ago, when they set fire to the cult’s headquarters, killing Jacob Crawley, the powerful and frightening leader of the cult. Split up and sent to foster families across the country, the teens have not kept in touch with each other…until one of them ends up dead. They meet up together for the funeral, returning to Meridian, the small Southern town where it all happened. It seem More...

I wanted to like this book. Who isn't fascinated by cults and the motivation and brainwashing that go on in the members. The premise of this book was really interesting. 6 kids survive the mass killing of their cult and kill the cult leader, 5 years later they return to the town for the funeral of one of the 6 survivors, after receiving an email about his death from an unknown source. Sounds interesting right? Too bad it wasn't. There was a definite "Final Destination" and "I More...

This book for me was not what I planned it to be from the very beginning. I planned it to be mor Christian and about god. But it was about murder. There were random spurts of twist. All of a sudden it's the guy who killed your sister right in front of you and you don't know anything about him or why he did it, and within the next page you know.

The character herself is funny and has a lot of personality. The rest of the characters are good to. I didn't really understand them until abou More...

Five years ago, Allison and the other children of the Divine Path took the future into their hands and destroyed the cult. Now, one of the teens is dead and the others return to the small town, only to find that perhaps their leader's prophecies are coming true.

This was not quite what I expected. It was short and quick-paced, but there were a lot more things they could have done with the story. I expected more information about the cult in general, as well as more about Allison's sis More...

This was another book I read over the summer. This book was really good because a random serious of events had happened in order. This was a kind of freaky book because it was a bout a boy that dies a sea and then when a couple friends come together to remember their friend they remember him saying a couple words that if he ever died they would all die with him. They were stressed because they didnt know if they should believe it or not but then slowly it started happening and one by one each More...

This is a really spooky book. The prologue had me scratching my head a bit, and I admit that I wasn't sure if I would like the rest of the novel. But it is undeniably creepy, and by the end of chapter one I was hooked.

There are no wasted scenes in this book. Even a ride that two characters take in a car is a chance for character development and flashbacks to flesh out the story. Piece by piece, the terrifying experience that More...

“The Unspoken” is about six teens who were the only survivors of a “religious cult,” that was destroyed by a fire. A prediction was made that each teen would die by their worst fear. Five years later, one of the teens drown and slowly each teen starts dying. The only way to stop this is to find the “root of the curse.” Each teen goes through a series of obstacles that they have never encountered and never believed.

This book was about a boy, jakob, who dies at sea and after his friends find out, they start reminsincing about him and remembered him saying before he died he ever died, they would die after him. The friends started freaking out, but they didnt know whether or not to believe this. Then all of a sudden one by one each friend starts dieing. The rest if the book is about the death of the rest of the kids and the mystery behind it.

I had trouble reading this book as the characters switch between memories of times past to present day with no warning. Then, a violent story unfolds of children caught in a cult who feels the only way they can escape is to kill the "prophet" in a fire. I read the first three chapters and then skipped to the last three chapters thinking that maybe the ending would redeem the book but it didn't...it only filled it with more violence.

The whole begining and middle of the book was good but the end could have been better. But i really would like to read sleepless. I like his ideas about fear. It's not simple things like of spiders or clowns. Emma's fear was related to her passion- reading. Jades loved to play the piano. that's what killed them. It was super creepy and the end did hit my by surprise but it could have been better. and OMG POOR MEL!!!

This book was okay It was faced passed and I wanted to keep reading but at the same time that was the problem. Because it was short I felt we never really got to know the characters. When the ones who died, died I did not feel for them that much due to the fact that I hardly got to know them. I would have like the book to be longer and have had more info about there life in the cult and more about the characters.

I didn't think this book was too bad in the beginning...it was slow moving and held my attention just enough for me to keep reading. I wish I had stopped and moved on to a better book. I was completely disappointed by the ending. It was rushed and left open and I can't stand books like that.
Basically....children raised in a cult, cult leader kills all but six kids, six kids kill cult leader, five years later kids start dying.

Ok so I picked this book up because it looked like a cross between Stephen King and crazy science fiction. The whole idea of each person dying off from their greatest fear also sounded good. However, the killings were basically a background story and weren't focused on at all. It was also very confusing and really bizarre. Another thing that was weird was the whole religious thing-it didn't even make any sense-and was just kinda dumb. The author made it sound like the whole plot of the book was More...

This book is a VERY great book! Im really into sad and depressing books, because the books I write are sad and depressing. This fit PERFECTLY into those categories! There is a lot of killing involved in this book, so be careful if your get scared easily. Overall this was one of the best books I have ever read!

I thought that this novel was very interesting but I felt that something was seriously missing. There was something about this book that kept hitting me besides the bad grammer errors. I think that the book ended too quickly and the characters were being killed off way too quickly.

This book was amazing, interesting and captivating all the way up until the ending. I felt like the ending was a really big dud. I could see this becoming a really good series, but as one book? It just didnt work which is why I gave this 3 stars.

This book was okay. It really caught my attention in the begining and I really wanted to read it. But by like the 6th chapter I lost interested. It's not a horrible book though, just not my type of book I guess! It's a very mysterious book.

Creepy horror story with open ending about six kids who were the survivors of a cult that went up in flames. The leader had promised them that they would all die in five years from what they fear most and now the time has arrived.

Just not the book I had anticipated. The characters were very boring, story line was good in theory (sort-of) but slow and uninteresting in execution. I felt like there really was no real goal in finishing the story, because the end really wasn't a strong conclusion. Very bleh.

If you are into horror movies, this is a good one to pick up. Quick read, definitely felt like a movie I would watch in the category of "Final Destination" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Not too gruesome but a good young adult horror book!

There were some really creepy, interesting moments in this book, but I felt like there was too much packed into 160 pages. It seemed like every other page someone was getting murdered.

The Unspoken seemed like a horror film put into book format. The writing wasn't very good, the plot practically nonexistent and the characters exceedingly dull. When terrible things happened to them, I felt absolutely no sympathy. Throughout the entire book, you pretty much just got to listen to each character die an incredibly gruesome death. Someone who has more interest in horror might enjoy this book but I certainly did not.
