No matter how well she handles the Sisterhood of Evil Mutants, Moonstone and Blackout, the Tatterdemalion, and other villains, Alison Blaire never set out to be a super hero - just a superstar But her big film break shatters that dream when she's outed to the public as a mutant, and not even the Beyonder can mend her stricken soul After a series of adventures with bounty ...more

I really enjoy the character of Dazzler, the way she is the reluctant super hero. And as much as I like the character and enjoy the stories that were in this volume it wasn't any where near as good as the first collection.

The character of Alison Blaire was pretty consistent, as was what drove her, in the first volume. I felt like that person disappeared some where near the beginning of this volume to be replaced by a series of people who were similar to Alison Blaire but not exactly her. Maybe

I love Dazzler, and have a soft spot for Dazzler, and will probably always love Dazzler. The 80s chic, the spandex, the roller skates; it was all absolutely mesmerising to a high schooler who seemed to be going through an 80s aesthetic and had a 'thing' for roller girls.
However, I am less satisfied with Blaire's character in this volume. She doesn't seem to radiate the same strong, reluctant-to-play-the-hero character that I've grown so fond of over the years. From story to story, the writing n

Didn't like this one nearly as much as Essential Dazzler, Vol. 1, mostly because it seems to become more of a superhero book. The things I liked about Alison, such as her reluctance to run around playing spandex queen, faded a bit here. The writing just isn't there.

The graphic novel Dazzler: The Movie is included here. It's a decent enough story that was probably a bit more shocking back in the day, with its use of strong language and frankness about sex. But to be honest, it suffers a bit becau
Reprints Dazzler #22-42, Marvel Graphic Novel #12, Beauty and the Beast #1-4, and Secret Wars II #4. Dazzler is exposed as a mutant and goes on the run as the world searches for her. The Dazzler series takes a big change in these issues and tries to get more dramatic. The Dazzler: The Movie Graphic Novel caused some big changes in the X-Men books and it was decent. Much of the later issues seem hashed together and lack direction. The final story arcs did try to have some order but still seemed ...more

A nice different take on a mutant in the Marvel Universe. Instead of hiding and fearing the humans reaction, here is a mutant that glorifies in the limelight of attention as a rock superstar. I thought Dazzler's transition from media darling to mutant superhero in hiding was done well. I read these as they originally came out and enjoyed them. Recommended
