Cook's book is very much in the genre of "I was a disgusting fiend but now I've seen the light." His quest to self-medicate fear and anxiety is detailed with such relentlessness that I got anxious just reading this book. But the painful sincerity of his addictive behavior deteriorates into a string of rote platitudes. By the end of the book, the editor must have gotten bored, because the clumsy grammar and missing punctuation gets very distracting.
