I wish i had fanned through the pages of this before purchasing. I am not a fan of cakes that require self-rising flour, but the ideas are good and can be converted to all-purpose with minimal work.
It is a book with ample recipes for cakes, but if you are looking for The Cake Book for your shelf, this is not really it. The cakes have little variety in that they do not allow you to use different types of fat, flour, etc. It is a great concept and fun to look through but as I say, not The Cake Book for your shelf, and not to buy if you can not afford to build a collection.
Fantastic recipes and great layout. I really like the variations at the end of each section. Can't wait to get baking and try them all out.
