Sometimes riding the el at midnight takes one on a journey far deeper than merely underground...

This is classic Rick R. Reed and exactly the type of book that drew me to his work way back when. I should point out that this is in no way a romance and it has some pretty intense scenes. Keep that in mind before reading it.

Mark is a young man who gets off on violent sex. The more painful and disturbing the better. His plan is to find a partner on the train later in the evening. Mark's background isn't elaborated on much (believe me, it doesn't have to be), but the

I must give this 4 stars for the ending alone. I know that I usually like a closure in a book, but man, this one is one trip to the dark side!! The writing is very good, that I can feel the "darkness" -- from the very beginning when it is voyeurism at best, until that dark mind between the two characters. Seriously, the ending just blows my head!

Uhmm, I'm puzzled... what I have just read? really I don't know and I will try to say you enough to understand and not enough to spoil the story, that it's soo short, less than 25 pages, that it's an hard thing to do.

Mark is a whore or a slut... I don't understand if he does what he does for money or pleasure, or both. He is for sure an abuse son, and now he links pain with pleasure, love with rape. He is dressing for his night out, black leather and kinky toys in his backpack, long red hair and

Didn't really know what to do with this one. It's extremely well written and has an interesting plot - but it was just too horrific for me in terms of concept and impact. But then, I don't like horror at all and when I give it the occasional try I find that still hasn't changed.

It's hard to rate, so you may just have to take the El to find out why. That, in itself, may be considered a compliment by an author, right? I literally get a chill when I run across it in my booklist or see the cover.

Intriguing characters who manufacture themselves and their experiences in parallel. I found this one hilarious - there may be something wrong with me.
Reviews are all over the place for this one with good reason. Bottom line for me: Incredibly well written.
