The Legend of the Werestag
To capture love, sometimes you have to grab it by the horns…
If a woman could die of humiliation, Cecily Hale would have perished three hours ago. Luke Trenton had finally returned to Swinford Manor, only to cruelly spurn her long-held love. But she couldn’t conveniently die of shame on the spot—oh, no. Instead she joined her friends on this ridiculous search for a legend...more
My redonk nutshell makes no damn sense. *snort* This novella by one of my favorite AUTHORS OF ALL TIME!!!!, Tessa Dare, was a short and sweet, though fluffy and short lived. Contrary to the paranormal-sounding title, this is a regency romance that flirts with Gothic themes.
Cecily Hale is heartbroken over her spurned affections for her friend and love, Luke Trento...more

This is NOT a Paranormal Romance-it's a very sweet Regency Romance.
I have wanted to read this for a while as I enjoy Tessa Dare's writing. I grabbed it last time I was on fictionwise and forgot I couldn't use my flippin' code for Samhain titles (grrr at Samhain!) but it was still a sweet story. I didn't care for the hero very much at first, but he grew on me. In fact I think there are some things in this story that would normally turn me off, yet I liked it-Go fig.
We have Luke just retu...more
I love Tessa Dare's writing -- even when I hate the characters I still love her style. She's witty, clever, and her books contain a fair amount of humour, which I love. She is very good at setting tension between H/h, and she writes chemistry and steam like nobody's business.
I loved the premise to this story, and although I found it to be a bit uneven...more

For four years, Cecily held a torch for Luke while he was away at war. When he returns, he's not the same lighthearted man who kissed her so sweetly before leaving. He still cares for her--and she him--but he doesn't think he can give her the kind of love she deserves, or that she can accept the uncivilized man he feels he's become. Luke would much rather Cecily remember him as he was, so he pushes her away. But even...more
A bit of a muddle, this. I don't know that it ever made up its mind whether it was a fantasy story or not. POV was inconsistent, the story was slight, plot threads were jumbled, yet the characters had the potential to become real people in a longer story that allowed for growth.
I admired T.Dare for attempting a 'veteran's return' story, but was disappointed that there was so little of it. I did not, however, like that there was the potential for Cecy's erstwhile res...more
