Echoes From The Darkness is a collection of short stories based in various urban fantasy and alternate history settings. They are all stand alone stories, but they fit together nicely in this volume as they all deal with different ways to delve into that darkness. In "Places for Act Two" Dracula takes his acting cues in the play, Pirates of Penzance, and helps solve a mystery with Sherlock Holmes' older brother.

I really enjoyed Sinor's other collection of short stories, »Where the Shadows begann«, but this is a disappointment. The ideas are good but most of the stories read like creative-writing exercises: carefully constructed but not motivated and therefore pointless and rather boring. The only standout is »Grails«, previously published in »The Magic Shop« (ed. by Denise Little, 2004).
