This is the first book I’ve read from these authors but it certainly caught my attention. Considering the time frame of a march on the White House in the late 1960’s, this could have easily been a melodramatic, ambitious romance with heavy political ideals. Instead the authors have delivered a well crafted romance with sympathetic characters and a rich setting honest for the time period and yet relevant for current times as well. Although the shorter length fits the story perfectly, I would be ...more

Fortunate Son has a double meaning. At the beginning of the story I believed that the fortunate son was Ricky; he is the second son of a not so wealthy country family. His older brother died in Vietnam and his parents sold part of the family farm to allow him to go to College and so, avoid to be a conscript. But Ricky is still mourning Randall's loss, and instead of having his mind on the study, he thinks on protest and getting high, since when you are high the world seems better. At college he ...more

This is a tender, sweet love story contrasted sharply by it's setting and time. The story takes place over perhaps 2 days in 1967...the Viet Nam war is in full fury and the youth of America protests it vehemently. (I remember it well.) The two MCs are taking part in the march on the Pentagon in 1967. Ricky and Charlie are perfect for each other, each bringing out the best in the other. I loved them and, if wishes really did come true, I would only wish that this book were longer.

Set in the 1960s Ricky and charlie on here way to the white house with protesters. Rickys brother died in war and this was a way to get his pain to go away. But also he finds things about charlie that sort of puts a wedge between them. I wonder what did happen to them decades later wonder if they lived happily

I nearly didn't finish this book. But I pushed on when I clearly should have given up, but I can't leave a book half read... I did, however, skim over the chapters and found myself only reading dialogue.
