This novel evidences a slight issue between Douglas and fantasy fans. Douglas had previously written several fantasy novels including the Six of Sword quintet. She then started this trilogy, but was also writing mysteries. The mysteries apparently were a big hit and she only wrote the first two books to this series.

So be forewarned that the trilogy, of which this is the middle book, does not have an ending volume.

Its a good read.
