Big Frog is big. Quite big. So big this book can't hold her. But with a lot of help from some good friends, Big Frog will fit in just fine Filled with exciting and unique pops constructed sturdily, and perfectly suited for little hands, this vibrant new pop-up book will appeal to Mo fans old and new.

I'm a pretty big fan of Mo Willems and pop-up books, so to have a Mo Willems pop-up book is like a hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top.

Big Frog just doesn’t fit in. Maybe shorter legs or a more bendable spine would help her feel more at home with all the other frogs. But Big Frog soon learns that the best of friends don’t expect you to fit into their lives—they make room in their lives for you.

One of the best things about this book was that it was written as a pop-up book. ...more

I enjoyed this book because it was not your typical pop-up book. First of all this book teaches the lesson to children about how it is okay to not be normal. Frog is too big for the book she was put in to, but that did not matter because her friends made the book bigger for her. Children are picked on a lot at school because they may be different than everyone else. This book can help the student not feel bad for being different. I also enjoyed in the book in order to read the entire story ...more

I really love willems' bks, but this one was just ok to me. The pop up features were very cool but not going to hold up to to young kids hands. It is a pop up bk that could be shared with a group like I did the week we got it @ work. The babytime moms thought it was great.

it's too delicate for sharing with charlie.

It's about reasonable accommodation, isn't it? Tell me, Mo - it's an allegory about special needs kids in the public school, right? I will buy it for the idiots in our school system who have been fighting a lawsuit from parents of special ed kids for THIRTY YEARS NOW.

But I will also give it to little kids - it's awfully cute!

I like the message of this book. It's cute. The construction didn't last too long in my house and I thought the random placement of the pigeon was a little lame. They could have worked him into the story easily enough or found a clever place for him to hide.

Handle very gently. Paper engineering for this is delicate. Story is funny -- Frog can't fit in the book (no matter how you pull or push tabs, bend limbs, etc.). What is the solution? A bigger book, of course! Love Mo Willems. Book can't work as well in any medium other than pop-up.

Maybe it was just because my copy was brand new, but I found it very difficult to use the pull-tabs throughout the book. The pop-ups were great, very funny, but I have a feeling this is a book that will get torn very quickly.

Maybe my expectations were just too high. It's alright - kids liked it fine. Tabs are hard to pull. It ripped the first time it was looked at. If you open the last page too much, it seems to take it a few times to get situated so it can close.

I liked this book. It doesn't have anything on Pigeon or Elephant and Piggy, but it was good. Sometimes I feel like Mo Willems unconventionality is becomming conventional...

Also, this book will last like, a week before it gets broken.

Beware of this pop up book! I was the third person to look at it and the pop ups were ripping all over the place. Sadly, a I can't see a child being able to look at this book more than once without ripping it to shreds :(

However, it was a VERY cute book. And the Pigeon from Mo Willem's other books even makes an appearance.

Got a sneak peak of this from Mo himself at BEA 2009; I was lucky enough to sit and chat with him for an hour! I now own one spread of the book and can't wait to actually see the entire, completed work.

The best pop-up book I've seen a a long time. Not much in terms of plot, but great effects done with the pop-ups. This book shows physically what illustrations could try to portray.

Pop-up books are always fun, but this was more clever than most. Sadly, this is the type of book that you just know is going to get destroyed at our public library.

Really, really nice use of pop-up, in conjunction with Mo Willem's lovely, spare, hilarious voice. Poor big frog, she's just too big for the book.

I had a difficult time using this in storytime. The pull tabs were really stiff and I ripped some parts of the book.

So cute! This will be great for storytime once the pop up pieces are broken in a bit more.
Anna
Cute pop up book that all children will have fun with and be able to relate well to.

This book is very cute, but the pieces are hard to move. The extra time spent fiddling with the tabs steals some of the story's impact.

We contemplated getting this as a birthday gift for a young friend. It's delightful, but I was afraid too fragile for one turning three. I suppose that's the problem with pop up books: you have to be old enough to be careful with them.

Heard Mo read it over his live broadcast. LOVED the pictures. Liked what of the story there was ... this is really more of a must get for the pictures and pop/pull aspects than the story humor.
Britt, Book Habitue
SUCH a cute book, though the thought of leaving my children alone with a pop-up book is enough to give me nightmares, so it went back to the library really fast.
Elisabeth
Clever pop up (or pop out) book. Wish I wouldn't have let Max get his hands on it - but it's still a favorite even with additional scotch tape.
