When I lived closer to the city, I was in a good book club and I miss that. One of my friends talked me into coming to her book club(a group that alternates inspirational and mainstream fiction) and while I liked the people, this book didn't quite do it for me. I guess it got me thinking, but I can't say it was a book I loved.

The good:

- Writer has a definite voice and an appealing sense of humor
- Even though this book has a "big city heroine returns to small town" plot, there's a believable r

This story grabbed from the very beginning. Jenny has a fantastic ability with creating detail and depth of character for all of the main characters, as well as many of the side characters. I couldn't put this down, minus needing to sleep...but immediately started reading again after waking.

The main character, Maggie, has a plan in life. She is executing that plan, and yet something is missing. An unexpected trip home, with lots of circumstances beyond her control....all continue to push her to...more

Maggie has had a huge wake-up call. The family she has been somewhat estranged from needs her help and it is in the form of her 10-year-old niece whose chemically imbalanced mother is no where to be seen. It requires her to go back home where she will be forced to face her high school reputation, the father who has never noticed her except to yell at her, and the death of her mother. There she runs into Connor. She doesn't remember him from high school, but he does and he doesn't like her very m...more

I just finished this book. I read it in a day and half because I couldn't hardly put it down. I absolutly love this book. I did have some concerns with a few things however. First, I was just noticing the main character Maggie and her new found faith. She had accepted Christ a year before her present situation, so she is a baby christian, but I found that her only attempts at hearing God are when she is in a crisis and needs his help. When he doesnt respond in an audible voice, she seems bitter....more

Maggie Montgomery is a cinematographer for a travel show. She has traveled from Paris to Cambodia and her travel show became number one Travel TV. When she unexpectedly received a call from her Father asking her to come home, he is in desperate need of her help, she realized it was not skydiving that she feared, it was going back home.

Ivy, Texas was a place she left as soon as she could and she never looked back. It held many painful memories since her Mom's death when she was in 11th grade. Mag...more

“There’s a feeling in the air, and I don’t like it. A feeling that says, Things are about to get messy and out of control. Messy I can handle. The contents of my purse are a testimonial to that. But the relationship business? Let’s just say I’m a better cinematographer than I am a girlfriend.”

This statement out of the mouth of Maggie, world traveler, great at her job, but not so good with relationships of any kind; which she soon discovers when a family emergency brings her home to Ivey, Texas....more

Okay, aside from the fact that those 2 lines are a mini tribute to Tommy Tutone and a famous phone number, they are true. I look forward to every book Jenny B. Jones writes and she has yet to let me down. First off a great YA series, the Katie Parker series, and then she follows that up with So Not Happening the first of The Charmed Life series. Admittedly they are both considered YA series (but come on, she's a high school teac...more

Jenny B. Jones debut into women’s fiction, Just Between You and Me, has been chosen as a 2009 WOMEN OF FAITH novel. In a departure from her quirky, action-filled Young Adult books, Jenny brings the same fun style to an adult audience.

Ivy, Texas is the last place Maggie Montgomery wants to go, but at the urgent request of her dad, she returns to her hometown. She’d rather be skydiving or rappelling or any number of other things in her adventurous life as a photojournalist. Once there, getting aw...more

I could *not* put this book down. It was filled with every I want in a novel: a sassy and funny heroine, a hot and studly hero, and conflicts and issues that cut straight to my core.

Maggie Montgomery is a woman who wants to make a difference. She works as an executive for a travel show and travels to exotic locations on a regular basis. But while her show is showcasing the beauty of the places, she is finding the real stories: of children who are scavenging for food, hungry and broken. Of child...more

Just Between You and Me by Jenny B. Jones is a powerful novel about living without fear and learning to trust God. Maggie Montgomery has made a career of running away. As a cinematographer she also views the world at a safe remove without having to actually interact with it. Twelve years after she left her hometown of Ivy, Texas, her father calls demanding she return to help out with her niece, Riley. Maggie has spent years avoiding returning to Ivy and all that it holds for her: her father's co...more

I loved how this entire story played out. The emotional landscape was rich and thoroughly plowed. The hero was incredibly dreamy and yet realistic and believable. The heroine's issues were compelling, interesting, and clearly well-researched. The minor charactor, Riley, was probably the best portrayal of a screwed up kid that I've ever read. She was totally real and perfectly developed. Everything about her issues rang true. Even the sister, Allison, was shown in a believable fashion. I've worke...more

I had no doubt in my mind that I would enjoy this book. After reading Jenny’s YA novel, There You’ll Find Me, I knew I was lethally hooked. Her use of humor to offset the heavy issues she deals with delights me beyond words, but at the same time touches our souls with heart-felt stories of renewal and grace. I just can’t get enough of it!

Maggie likes to think she escaped Ivy, Texas. She likes to think she loves her job, and that she’s not avoiding her father or her deranged sister. She likes to...more

WOW. I loved it! This book is full of wonderful things, such as: wit, humor, a really cute guy, massive amounts of candy, and (best of all) God. Jones is an amazing author, who really makes you think (once you dry your eyes from laughing so hard). I loved how she dealt with fear in this book, and how God was totally at the heart of getting rid of it. "We can do all things through Christ" is proved true over, and over in Jones's books. As characters get themselves in crazy situations that only Go...more

Just Between You and Me is a perfect example of what women’s fiction is supposed to be—moving, meaningful, and freaking hilarious.

From the get-go, I was in love with the author’s style, her stellar one-liners, the expertly woven threads of tension, and the sizzling romance.

Maggie Montgomery is a cinematographer who’s not afraid of anything—except going home. But when a family crisis has her cooling her heels in her hometown of Ivy, Texas, Maggie must face her demons and the reality behind her ow...more

Oh, Jenny, first off, you've got so much talent in what you do! *Sigh* Seriously.

I remember the first time I picked up a novel by this author. Everyone was mentioning how funny it was so I was thinking it'd be a chick-lit type of story.

Boy, oh boy was I wrong.

And even now, three books later, I can truly say that Jenny's talent doesn't fail to amaze me. Once again.

There's no doubt about it, this book is funny or more like hilarious! But Jenny also knows how to involve (in one work) very profound...more

Jenny B. Jones is AMAZING! Her novels are inspirational, uplifting, romantic, and entertaining.

I recently read and adored Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones. Immediately after completing Save the Date, I purchased Jenny B. Jones’ other adult Christian fiction novel, Just Between You and Me: A Novel of Losing Fear and Finding God. I loved Save the Date, but I have to say that I loved Just Between You and Me even more.

Again, Jenny B. Jones had me shocked at how much I enjoyed a contemporary novel, especially one that I would classify as “chick-lit.”

Jones has a wonderful way of integrating humor and seriousness in a story without being inconsiderate of the heaviness in the circumstances or becoming overly-dramatic. I seriously chuckled and laughed out loud at several scenes.

The relationship between Maggie and her neice Riley developed in a really genuine way. Jones portrayed the frustration and love very well...more

I hate that for some reason I'm just now getting around to doing this review, yet I read the book 2 months ago. Now, 2 months later the details have faded for me quite a bit, but I loved the book.

I utterly, truly, thoroughly enjoyed Just Between You and Me. Everything about the book is great, right down to the cover. And let me tell you, the cover image is spot on to the image the author has created of Maggie Montgomery.

Maggie is the epitome of adventure. She lives a fast paced life, that many...more

I totally loved this book. I loved the relationships between H/H as well as the realistic struggles Maggie had to deal with as an adult after living within an extremely dysfunctional family. I totally loved her growing relationship with her niece Riley, as well as her rediscovered friendship with her best friend and former partner in "crime." Ultimately, I loved how she found God to be the one she needed to trust...and could. I always enjoy Jenny Jones' books. This one is a keeper for me.

Oh My, I so loved reading this book. I found myself living within the pages. Character Maggie Montgomery lived life on the edge. Growing up the way that I did, I sometimes wished that I had a more excited life. Well, reading was one way I could get lost in someone elses. And that is how this book had me feeling.

Author Jenny B. Jones is one exciting writer. I can't wait to read more from her. She had me from the beginning until the end.

Does character Maggie let go so she can take care of things...more

When a family emergency forces cinematographer Maggie to return to home, she finds a town full of people she wronged in her wild days. Her niece seems destined to cause even more trouble, but her crusty father has developed an unexpected soft-spot for his granddaughter. And somehow the local vet can see straight to the wounded places in Maggie's soul.
A novel that grabs the heart with vivid characters and writing that zings.

Successful cinematographer Maggie Montgomery has to learn to face her fears when she is called back to her dreaded hometown for a family crisis.

I'm still a little torn about Christian fiction and this one was a bit cheesy for me. Prayer and testimony are such personal, sacred things that reading a fictional account of it makes me squirm a little.

Just Between You and Me is a predictable, been-done-before plot that I still enjoyed reading.

Loved it. Just as much as I did the first time around. :) As usual, Jenny B. Jones' novels can have me swooning, laughing, and sobbing (generally all within a few pages of each other). Plus this one has a theme that I definitely need...getting over fear and trusting God. I used to consider this my favorite JBJ book, and it still might be. Though it's been a while since I read the Charmed Life series. :)

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Jones, but I am adding her to my new-to-me favorite author list. Fantastic book. I got sucked right into Maggie's life, problems, and mental workings. I loved that she seemed so real. I could picture myself having a laugh with her. This book was funny, clever, heart-wrenching, deep, and extremely well-written.

I really enjoyed this novel. I liked the meaning of it. To be afraid is not necessarily a problem, but as Christians we should press on through that fear by keeping our eyes on Jesus. I really needed to hear that since I'm terrified of flying, but will be on a plane shortly. The book gave me a great idea about printing out some scripture to keep on hand like Jane did in the book. I liked how Maggie was both a strong woman, but a complete mess inside. Just like me.

Confession:
I read this book about fourteen times because its just that amazing. When I say you learn to conquer your fears and become a little courageous, I'm not kidding.
Maggie is an oldest child who had alot of things going for her.
Kinda Spoiler Alert:
When she jumped off the cliff into God's arms, she got so much more.

I picked this book up yesterday from the library and couldn't put it down. I found the sassy one-liners very entertaining. I also found the main theme, losing fear and letting God take complete control, completely en pointe in my life. I am a control freak, and find it difficult to relinquish complete authority to God. I am slowly learning and letting go. Jenny B. Jones reminded me that when we do let go, God rewards us with more than we could ever hope for.

Wonderful book about testing your faith and leaving the restraints of self-imposed boundaries. Maggie is an interesting character to get to know, and more importantly, to cheer on. Loved how her faith was portrayed as an ongoing struggle that she didn't give up on.

It has to be bad that I love every book, especially this one. Maggie is down to earth, runs away from her life and is pulled back in. I relate, which means I could not put it down :) very enjoyable and unexpecting book of letting go of fear and finding God.

How did I not discover Jenny B. Jones before this? This is the second book I've read (or devoured) by her and I loved them both. Laugh out loud funny and so poignantly honest and thought provoking, as well as spiritually encouraging. Excellent. I couldn't put it down.
