Dick King-Smith's children's books are always well written, as if they are for adults, which I like. The subject matter may be boring, and the plot simple, the characters mundane, but his writing never fails to be anything but good.

Dick King-Smith was born and raised in Gloucestershire, England, surrounded by pet animals. After twenty years as a farmer, he turned to teaching and then to writing children's books.
