Amy is still Amy, no doubt about that. But I have to give her one thumb up for being strong(?) enough to be in a military camp. What I like from this book is that we get to see a glimpse of what's life like for soldiers. Here's Godspeed by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, a tribute for them.

Godspeed to all our brave soldiers out there.

Simone Elkeles never fails to impress me. This was the last series that I’ve read of her work after enjoying both Perfect Chemistry and Leaving Paradise series. I expected to see similarities from her other works and I’m happy to see none. How To Ruin trilogy was an eye-opener for me. Just like Amy, I saw Israel without so much affirmative judgments because of the war that’s still happening there. The author proved both Amy and I wrong. I had an 8-hour trip to the country and Ms. Elkeles success More...

The world of young adult books never ceases to be amazing. With a range of topics reminding us of our stressful adolescent selves, young adult books hold a set amount of information about friendships with other girls, jealousy, boyfriends, questions about sex, and overall embarrassing experiences that the characters will laugh about when they look back on their lives.

How to Ruin Your Boyfrend's Reputation fits perfectly into this mold. The third in a series by Simone Elkeles, this sp More...

Synopsis:
Guess who's jetting to the Holy Land this summer!

Remember me, Amy Barak-Nelson—a.k.a the queen of disaster? In case you forgot, my boyfriend Avi is in the Israeli army. A visit is definitely in order.

Somehow my grandmother convinced me to sign up for two weeks of pure hell in a military training base. Getting up before dawn, peeing in a hole, and playing war games in the desert isn't my idea of fun. But what's worse? Our team leader turns out to be Avi!

Last book of the series, sadly. Maybe its because of thed fact that I read this book while I was emotinally unstable that I loved it even more. Well all I can say is that this book was just as humourus. Especially when nathan ate the bee. And now I know that working bees also sting. And from my other reviews of the other books, I am not a big fan of amy nelson-barack but you gotta love this girl. However, I am really glad that I don't know anyone like her in real life.

I'm so sad now that this series is over. I'll miss Amy and Avi. I feel like it's incomplete. I wanna know what will happen after Avi's soldier days are done!

I like how this book shows what the soldiers has been through in training. I didn't know it was so tough out there.

<spoiler>I was so disappointed with Avi when he cheated on Amy. You know, it seemed serious with Liron. I had so much faith with Avi, knowing he loves Amy so much and he can't cheat on her. But I More...

I really wish Simone Elkeles would continue writing this series.
I've been done reading the How To ruin series for quite some time now, but I can't seem to stop thinking about Amy and Avi. I really wanted to know what happens next in their lives. I have reread the books a lot of times even though my list of TBR books are growing. I've grown attached to the characters. I've read a lot of books, and this is one of my top favorite series of all time.

I loved this book! Simone Elkeles proved once again that she can have you laughing, cringing and tearing up all in one story! How to Ruin Your Boyfriend’s Reputation is a great addition to Elkeles’ How to… series where I got the usual LOL funny moments, engaging characters (Amy and Avi that have definite chemistry), and perfect setting that teaches you about current events. I finished this book in a few short hours because it was just all around awesome!

Oh jeez, here comes Amy again! This time, she's going to an Israeli boot camp with Jess, Miranda, and Nate. Why? To spend time with Avi of course! This is going to be her best summer ever!
And then she gets there.
The wheel on her suitcase breaks.
Their millitary leader is annoyingly cheerful.
None of the officers are breaking sweat even though it's like a thousand degrees outside!
There are moon shaped sweat spots on her boobs.
She's required to wake up at dawn eve More...

Tadinya mereka berdua mengalami sedikit salah paham, yg kemudian berhasil mereka selesaikan. Tapi kali ini Avi yg begitu dipercayai oleh Amy, ternyata More...

A solid 4 1/2
This time around Amy is back in Israel, spending time in a youth bootcamp where she hopes to see Avi.
Well, she does see him and immediately gets him in trouble, no surprise there. Amy still seems to have a problem with doing before thinking and Avi pays the price for it. While I've come to like Amy's character, her belief that she could just do as she pleased, ignoring the rules and the fact that her boyfriend is actually a member of the military and subject to those rul More...

This was a very cute, fun and quick book to read. It had a lot of humor in it. Amy is a princess, not a real princess, but in the sense that she needs the best of everything. But when she gets to military camp and realizes that it's not a 5 star hotel, she wonders why she ever agreed to go.
The best part of the book is that her boyfriend, Avi, is her team leader. But the way that Amy remembers him from back home isn't the same way that Avi is now that he is back on his home land. In the mil More...

Okay this is where my review for the whole series is going to be. And idk if i really liked it or really hated this book. I'm still not sure which it was. Well I find it easier just to start off with typing all the pros and cons of the book.

Cons first: Okay first of all the main character was sooooo annoying. All of the other characters were okay though. Especially avi. Mhmm. Well maybe he was too perfect? ;O Oh and it was kinda confusing when major things were happening. It f More...

This book actually made me very angry! I was outraged at the amount of ignorace Amy still has towards her own culture. I found myself getting embarressed on her behalf, because she was just so awful.

The best thing about this book is the fact that she redeems herself more in this book than any book in the series, but Ugh! I just can't stand how selfish she is, and how she doesn't even feel remorse for insulting poeple and getting Avi in trouble with the army.

The tone of the book suggests that things are about to get a hell of a lot worse. But it’s actually not as bad as I thought it would be. Things go really sour really fast though. Amy is still really whiny and American. Even though I am totally groaning for poor Avi and his nutty girlfriend, I like the relationship. He is so steady and cool and she’s like a headless chook. Most of the book is them not getting along, just like the others.

It turns out Avi is in charge of Amy’s group for More...

I did not like this one as well as the other two, but it was still good. I kept expecting there to be more of a finale-type story line since this was the last book, but it didn't come. It is extremely disapointing and frustrating to end a series and leave it so unfinished. I mean, yes, Avi and Amy are "together", but he is still in the military (in Israel) and she is still in high school (in America). Really, nothing is any different than it has been from the beginning. It's al More...

I really do enjoy this series. I just wish it were a little more nuanced to include a better picture of the Palestinian issue. In this third book Amy is going to an Israeli boot camp for two weeks. While two years of military service is required for all Israeli teens, Amy as an American is exempt. She chooses to do the two week program open to all interested Jewish teens. This way she might be able to see Avi her BF who has already started his military service. Complications ensue in Amy's More...

Just like in the first two books in this series, I found myself not liking Amy. She makes me feel bad about being a female and an American. Her crazy behavior might be sort of funny to read, but I can't believe she's such an idiot and so selfish. I don't understand why Avi loves her.

I wish Avi loved me, though! He saves this series, I tell you. Male characters like him are what reading these kind of books are all about. Sigh. Swoon. Thanks to the well written character of Avi More...

How To Ruin your Boyfriend’s Reputation is yet another hilarious addition to Simone Elkeles' How To Ruin.. series. A series that I highly suggest all check out because of the following reasons.

For one, Amy is a character that is so easy to like and relate to which leaves me to personally think that Simone perfectly captures the teen voice within her. Plus, I like how Amy and Avi's relationship is realistic in the problems that they face, such as the long distance and staying true to More...

I absolutely adored this book, it reminds me of Kadet Kelly from when I was younger. I thought this was a great outlook on the way that the military affects teenagers It really does a good job of showing both sides from the Military soldier who must obey rules, to the ignorant average teen who doesn't know what true obedience is. The main character comes off a bit air headed sometimes but overall her wit and her love make her such a fascinating person. I would probably re-read this book again la More...

This is a good end for Amy and Avi. I would really like it if there was another book about Amy and Avi when he's not in the army and when she's not in high school. But i don't think that will happen. Overall this is another good book. I think that it was kind of stupid on Amy's part to think she could go to an army camp and expect to be with her boyfriend like the entire time. Otherwise this book is just as good as the rest and is a must read for those that loved the other Simone Elkeles books.

I have become very fond of Simone Elkeles writing lately. I read How to Ruin a Summer Vacation and had to bypass book 2 and just read this one. I actually think book is better than the first one. I really felt like my heart was broken for a moment reading it. There is this one part that had me laughing until tears came out & everyone else in the room with me is just looking at me like I'm drunk or something, LOL. The part with George, when you read it you'll understand :-)

This is probably my favourite book in the how to ruin series, I will never stop laughing about the bee scenario =D

Something I absolutely love about Simone Elkeles books is that they are wholesome, they always come to a full circle and you are often left wondering how each of the characters lives turn out because to us they become people, they are just another human being that we identify with. Her books on many levels are of just absolute greatness.

Oh. Its over now. so sad.

I really enjoyed it.
At times it felt unrealistic since I'm sure everything is much more grim over there but it was a nice plot arc. Anyways Amy's personality shines into everything she does and see's so maybe it wasn't as unrealistic as it seemed since we saw it through her pretty innocent eyes.

Now I have officially read all of Simone Elkele's books. I think.

She now officially on my auto-read(trusted) author shelf. :)

I enjoyed this 3rd novel in the series better then the 2nd. It is frustrating that they both have caused each other pain by making the same exact mistake. But this book had humorous and very enjoyable parts. I love Amy's love and commitment toward her family and her culture. Even though she is new to it all she embraces it and the changes it creates within her. I enjoy seeing the growth that she makes within each book. I love her spunkiness.
