The only disappointment I have is there is currently no plans for a fourth or fifth book(SIMONE PLEASE WRITE A 4TH OR 5TH!). It's not that I am disappointed by the ending. It was really sweet, but I would like to read about them having the 'Happy Ever After' instead of speculating if it worked out. It could also be because most series I read end with the marriage or kids. I want to know if they did wait till marriage and really how they would work it out to deciding where they will live with him...more

Okay so to the review!
How To Ruin Your Boyfriend's Reputation, Book no. 3 of the How To Ruin Series by Simone Elkeles.
Amy goes back to Israel but not with her family, but with her friends at a training with the Israel Defense Force for a) fun and b) hopes of seeing his boyfriend Avi.
There she finds out that being in the force is not as easy as she thought it would be. And the reunion she has with Avi is not at all a...more

I love Simone Elkeles....she finds a way to make the best male characters. Avi is dreamy. I have to admit that I was a bit angry at him for what happened with Liron because it was unfair to Amy but I forgave him for it, or overlooked it at least due to the caring way in which he protected Amy, he was always looking out for her, making sure she was okay and taken care of. I mean, how many times did he take a punishment because of her. I think he's a great guy who deserves more credit. The fact th...more

Anybody else pissed off at Avi? I normally like him and love how he is with Amy, but he pissed me off. I really need some clarification on how serious this relationship with Laron was. I mean at the beginning when Amy finds out its when he says to Laron that she is upset about "us" not Amy. Meaning she has feelings for him,so we're they a couple when Amy showed up or was it over by then. Cause when he explains everything to Amy it sounds like he and Laron were hurting and just reached out cause...more

Awe, too cute.

Okay, there was a bit much too description about the boot camp for my liking, but it was nonetheless good. The training and gun stuff were still interesting, but not as much as I hoped. I started to lose interest because there wasn't much Avi and Amy at first. Then we get it! Wheee. Amy and Avi sorta get into a fight. And then, Amy has Nathan as her "fake-boyfriend". And Miranda likes Nathan. And Nathan likes Tori. SO man, what now? (view spoiler)[Well obviously, Miranda gets toget...more

Simone Elkeles never fails to impress me. This was the last series that I’ve read of her work after enjoying both Perfect Chemistry and Leaving Paradise series. I expected to see similarities from her other works and I’m happy to see none. How To Ruin trilogy was an eye-opener for me. Just like Amy, I saw Israel without so much affirmative judgments because of the war that’s still happening there. The author proved both Amy and I wrong. I had an 8-hour trip to the country and Ms. Elkeles success...more

The world of young adult books never ceases to be amazing. With a range of topics reminding us of our stressful adolescent selves, young adult books hold a set amount of information about friendships with other girls, jealousy, boyfriends, questions about sex, and overall embarrassing experiences that the characters will laugh about when they look back on their lives.

How to Ruin Your Boyfrend's Reputation fits perfectly into this mold. The third in a series by Simone Elkeles, this specific work...more

Synopsis:
Guess who's jetting to the Holy Land this summer!

Remember me, Amy Barak-Nelson—a.k.a the queen of disaster? In case you forgot, my boyfriend Avi is in the Israeli army. A visit is definitely in order.

Somehow my grandmother convinced me to sign up for two weeks of pure hell in a military training base. Getting up before dawn, peeing in a hole, and playing war games in the desert isn't my idea of fun. But what's worse? Our team leader turns out to be Avi!

Last book of the series, sadly. Maybe its because of thed fact that I read this book while I was emotinally unstable that I loved it even more. Well all I can say is that this book was just as humourus. Especially when nathan ate the bee. And now I know that working bees also sting. And from my other reviews of the other books, I am not a big fan of amy nelson-barack but you gotta love this girl. However, I am really glad that I don't know anyone like her in real life.
As for the plot/ story li...more

I really wish Simone Elkeles would continue writing this series.
I've been done reading the How To ruin series for quite some time now, but I can't seem to stop thinking about Amy and Avi. I really wanted to know what happens next in their lives. I have reread the books a lot of times even though my list of TBR books are growing. I've grown attached to the characters. I've read a lot of books, and this is one of my top favorite series of all time.

I loved this book! Simone Elkeles proved once again that she can have you laughing, cringing and tearing up all in one story! How to Ruin Your Boyfriend’s Reputation is a great addition to Elkeles’ How to… series where I got the usual LOL funny moments, engaging characters (Amy and Avi that have definite chemistry), and perfect setting that teaches you about current events. I finished this book in a few short hours because it was just all around awesome!

Plot:
Amy misses her long-distance boyfriend who's in the Israeli Army and won't be able to meet her this summer. So Amy goes to Israel with her friends to join the 10 day training for the Israel Defense Force and surprise her boyfriend who's there. Nothing goes as planned and Avi seems to have a big secret.

Review:
This can't be the last book in the series. I really need more books about Amy and her life. It's way much more interesting than my own life to be honest. The drama never ends for her an...more

Oh jeez, here comes Amy again! This time, she's going to an Israeli boot camp with Jess, Miranda, and Nate. Why? To spend time with Avi of course! This is going to be her best summer ever!
And then she gets there.
The wheel on her suitcase breaks.
Their millitary leader is annoyingly cheerful.
None of the officers are breaking sweat even though it's like a thousand degrees outside!
There are moon shaped sweat spots on her boobs.
She's required to wake up at dawn everyday.
The bathrooms are holes in the...more

Tadinya mereka berdua mengalami sedikit salah paham, yg kemudian berhasil mereka selesaikan. Tapi kali ini Avi yg begitu dipercayai oleh Amy, ternyata...more

I love love love love love love love love love love love love love this book. (I think y'all get the point now - I LOVE this book.) It was funny, it was sweet, it was deep, it was AMAZING. This is the kind of book that will have you laughing one second and wanting to cover your eyes the next. (I'm serious. I wanted to cover my eyes as I read this one, some things were just THAT. . .whoa, you know?) Yet again in this series, Simone has crafted an utterly beautiful story that will make you grin a...more

This time around Amy is back in Israel, spending time in a youth bootcamp where she hopes to see Avi.
Well, she does see him and immediately gets him in trouble, no surprise there. Amy still seems to have a problem with doing before thinking and Avi pays the price for it. While I've come to like Amy's character, her belief that she could just do as she pleased, ignoring the rules and the fact that her boyfriend is actually a member of the military and subject to those rules, irritate...more

This was a very cute, fun and quick book to read. It had a lot of humor in it. Amy is a princess, not a real princess, but in the sense that she needs the best of everything. But when she gets to military camp and realizes that it's not a 5 star hotel, she wonders why she ever agreed to go.
The best part of the book is that her boyfriend, Avi, is her team leader. But the way that Amy remembers him from back home isn't the same way that Avi is now that he is back on his home land. In the military...more

Amy is off to Israeli boot camp.
Yes, our Amy.
Amy of Chicago and three-hundred dollar sunglasses and sushi with little pieces of tempura crunch.
“Why?” you might ask. “Why would an American teenage girl with a fondness for pink silk pillowcases, plastic luggage with bling, and a knack for always doing the wrong thing at the wrong time sign herself up for a special summer army program in Israel?”
Well, it might be her way of getting in touch with her heritage.
Or of exposing herself to a serious chal...more

Cute book, wish there was more of an ending. Kinda just left you hanging. There were a lot of funny parts that brought tears to my eyes. Like when Amy named her zit George. Hahaha that really killed me. And when she had Tori cut her bangs and the Avi asked “since when is cutting hair a medical issue?” Hahahaha it just is! I hated the way Avi was acting at first, I mean I understand his point of view, he is a solider, but he doesn’t have to make out with other girls! I woul...more

Okay this is where my review for the whole series is going to be. And idk if i really liked it or really hated this book. I'm still not sure which it was. Well I find it easier just to start off with typing all the pros and cons of the book.

Cons first: Okay first of all the main character was sooooo annoying. All of the other characters were okay though. Especially avi. Mhmm. Well maybe he was too perfect? ;O Oh and it was kinda confusing when major things were happening. It felt like the au...more

This book actually made me very angry! I was outraged at the amount of ignorace Amy still has towards her own culture. I found myself getting embarressed on her behalf, because she was just so awful.

The best thing about this book is the fact that she redeems herself more in this book than any book in the series, but Ugh! I just can't stand how selfish she is, and how she doesn't even feel remorse for insulting poeple and getting Avi in trouble with the army.

Everything is all about her, and that...more

I loved this book soooo damn much! Words can't describe how I feel for this last of the series. But Im sooo sad and angry well not angry but kinda pissed off Cause now its the end and we won't get to read more of Amy and Avi.... and the reason Im sad is because you will never know if they see each other again cause Avi will be in the army for 3 years untill he turns 21 but what will happen in those 3 years? Will he die? Will Amy join the army too after she turns 18 like Nathen? Will they get mar...more

I am seriously your #1 fan Ms Elkeles!! This is my 6th book I have read of yours and every single one has been pure perfection. While I felt the Mexican Fuentes boys books were more edgy and dangerous... I apsolutely loved the Israeli Soldier and American Princess series too. The first book just completely drew me in: The shearing sheep, the naked bedroom apologising incident, just everything. Avi and Amy are perfect for each other. I liked how they had so much dramas, it made it feel more real....more

(Feb) Well, finished the trilogy - it was overall ok. This book, like the others, focused somewhat on how annoying Amy is - immature, oblivious, completely irrational and needy - but there were glimmers of a decent girl underneath it all. Not sure growth and maturity will help, but I will hope so - otherwise Avi will dump her ass so fast once they are together permanantly! One part bothered me, though - how on earth would her dad, a former Israeli army guy, let her pack for Israel bootcamp and p...more

I did not like this one as well as the other two, but it was still good. I kept expecting there to be more of a finale-type story line since this was the last book, but it didn't come. It is extremely disapointing and frustrating to end a series and leave it so unfinished. I mean, yes, Avi and Amy are "together", but he is still in the military (in Israel) and she is still in high school (in America). Really, nothing is any different than it has been from the beginning. It's almost like this se...more
