When Griffin Bing surprisingly finds an old Babe Ruth baseball card in the about-to-be demolished Rockford Mansion, his first instinct is to determine its worth. That brings him to Palomino's Emphorium of Collectibles and Memorabilia. After Griffin and his friend, Ben make a deal for the card and sell it to S. Wendell (sounds deceptively like swindle, eh?) Palomino for a cool $120, they are disappointed it wasn't worth more. That's when the reality of the situation sets in t and Griffin and Ben ...more

Yeah, a book for the 9 year old and up. A classic heist, I can easily see it as a movie, the smart kids in the class band together to teach a cheating collectibles dealer a well deserved lesson.

In the book Swindle by Gordon Korman it is quite evident that the main character Griffin seeks vengeance for a man by the name of S. Wendell Palomino. Having this angst toward Palomino because of his deceitful ways of tricking people especially kids like Griffin. The true reason Palomino is hated by Griffin is because Griffin found a Babe Ruth baseball card and was going to sell it for millions of dollars. Taking it in to Palominos card shop he was unaware of Palominos criminal intent. After se ...more

Oh, Gordon Korman... where have the halcyon days gone when you wrote hilarious books with quirky characters, genuinely novel and unlikely yet somehow believable situations, and witty dialogue? Have you lost your inspiration? Did you get involved with the Mafia for real, and now are duty/honor bound to pay off some ridiculous sum, forcing you to shove as many books out of your pen/computer as humanly possible? Did you, in fact, die, and are this very instant not only rolling but rotating in your ...more

The book Swindle by Gordon Korman is about The man with the plan Griffin Bing. He tells his parents he is at a sleep over at his friends house. The catch was that they and a few friends would sneak into a house that was going to get destroyed the next morning. You might ask why they would do such a thing, but thats something most kids would do. The trick was that they wouldn't destroy a house with kids in it. The kids of Cedarville wanted the old house

My first reaction to this book was that it was going to be interesting because right away it started off with an eerie plot: Griffin and Ben, two best friends, were spending the night in an old house that was getting knocked down the next day. While they were in there though, they found a million dollar prize; a Babe Ruth Red Sox baseball card. As the action packed book picks up, they get cheated out of their money when they sell the card to local card shop owner, S. Wendell Palomino. I liked re ...more

Swindle is a great book. It starts off with Griffin Bing and Ben Slozak staying a night at the old Rockford house that is scheduled to be demolished the next day. As they were trying to sleep, a storm rolled in and kept Griffin awake. Since Griffin couldn't sleep, he decided to look around. Since it was supposed to be demolished, there was nothing in the old house. When Griffin was looking around, he saw that there was a little desk still left inside. Griffin being his curious self, started to l ...more

The title of this book was Swindle. It was made by Gordan Korman. The genre is fiction. The main characters were Griffin Bing, Ben, Pitch, Logan, Savannah, Melissa, Darren Vader, and "Swindle." There was only one major problem that the author had. A man has stolen a valuable card from him, but will he get it back? My favorite character was Griffin because he was the man with the plan. He was the one to recruit the other people in order to complete the heist. He is smart, but not strong. I would ...more

I had never heard of this book, but when my teacher recommended the book I knew it was going to be a good book. When I first looked at the cover of the book I thought it was going to be about a dog named swindle. I had no idea that the book was going to be about baseball, and baseball s my favorite sport. So in the end I think it was one of the most surprising book that I have read. I thought the book was agreed book.

Swindle was a suspenseful, funny, and overall good book. It is a book for teenagers or kids because they could relate to it more than an adult could.

It is about two friends who want to build a skate park instead of a museum in place of the old mansion. Their plans were ruined by the adults who wanted the museum, because the kids had no power. So the day before the mansion was destroyed they slept in it to protest that a skate park should be made. While one friend, Ben was sleeping the main char

i always saw this book in the library but never felt compelled to check it out, despite my long love for gordon korman, because i had somehow formed the bizarre impression that this was a book about a talking dog named swindle who busts out of an animal shelter and then goes around getting into goofy hijinks with his animal friends. (something about the cover of the library copy and the placement of the title, maybe?? i don't know????)

but NO! turns out this is a straight-up heist story featurin

Then he got the card back. The conflict is person vs person because Swindle and Griffin want the card and they are fighting for the card.

Korman wrote his first book, "This Can't be Happening at Macdonald Hall", when he was 12 years old, for a coach who suddenly found himself teaching 7th grade English. He later took that episode and created a book out of it, as well, in "The Sixth Grade Nickname Game", wherein Mr. Huge was based on that 7th grade teacher.

Korman moved to New York City, where he studied film and film writing. While i
