Recommends it for: anyone who wants something sweet with a taste of spice
This is a really cute friends to lovers book. I loved it because of the snippets of their past. The emotions between them are well done. But, I guess i would have expected more sex scenes. There was a couple, but somehow, they seemed secondary and not that steamy, considering that it was playing with the kinky. I thought this would be a sweet friends to lovers story, with some extra heat. It was basically a few really long sex scenes (one with the icky assistance of a relative), and a few vignettes from the growing up years of the main characters. Why oh why am I a sucker for these best-friends-turn-lovers kind of stories?
This is the second book by Mari Carr I read and it's even better. You can feel the emotions and love between the characters seep between the pages. Surprisingly good for a short erotica novel.

Sugar and Spice is all things nice. Definitely worth picking up but then I haven't read any of Mari's books that aren't.
