a well-written biography of an iraqi born in karbala and witness to most of the recent politics of the country (from the establishment of king faisal to the removal of saddam)

i liked it for its insight into the everyday life of karbala and the great quotes used to demarcate sections in the narrative

i wasn't really impressed by the self-important tone of the book itself, but i suppose any autobiography will exude such an aura... u have to think yourself somewhat importan to think ppl will be inte...more
