In the final installment of Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles, Nick and Laurie had thought they solved their giant problems when they drove all the giants into the sea. But now, the Grace kids have come back to tell them they may have more trouble coming their way!

It turns out the giants control the population of Hydra, a dragon like creature that is creating sinkholes al

I don't plan to go into great detail about the storyline, because I'm a firm believer that a story can only be truly reviewed by a person's impression of the story. I think it would be a waste of time to go over the plot again...that's what the title page of the book is for.

WOW!!! That's all I can say at this point!! So much action, suspense, stomach-twists, and overall amazing ending to an already amazing series! This was an interesting ending, simply because Nick and Laurie had to completely

I read this last book in the series more for closure than anything else. It is good that this marks the last book in the Spiderwick series (well, technically "Beyond Spiderwick") as I think it has run out of energy.

The Wyrm King wraps up this follow up series of chapter books to the famous Spiderwick Chronicles. Beyond Spiderwick was an interesting way to extend the concept and the books were enjoyable but not in the "I can't wait until the next book comes out" way of some series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the final installment of Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles. The action continued to escalate, and I love the way the authors make the destruction caused by faeries affect everyone (not only the character we know). The faeries are a real problem for the entire world.

Also, unlike a lot of other YA novels, the parents are present. They aren't parents who never check in with their children or who never care where their kids are. The authors have done a great job of creating plaus

*sigh* Where to begin?...

Well, this is the third and final installment of this bizarre little spin-off series, and unfortunately, the best thing that can be said about the whole affair is that at least it's a quick read. As I feared, this book made the second one entirely unnecessary. I guess a series of two books seems pretty flimsy, but to stretch the "plot" out across three books makes it even more obviously weak. A good portion of the book is spent totally undoing everything that was the ent

Well, I finished it, and I held out hope until end. I thought with the emergence of the Wyrm King this series might save itself and pull out of the nose dive. Alas, twas not the case. The series ends the way it began with a weak plot line and weaker character development. There was opportunity in the final climatic moments for it to at least provide a thrilling mental picture battle, but it falls just short. There's a half hearted attempt in the poem at the end to pull some moral message out of ...more

This is a review of the series moreso than this book.

Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles is, at first glance, basically the kind of sequel you'd expect. It takes the themes and ideas of the first Spiderwick series and revisits them with a new cast of characters. So again, we have kids who discover the hidden magic all around them, by gaining the ability to see the fairies and other assorted magic creatures around them. And they also get involved in a big adventure, that involves having to save peop

Really enjoyed the final book, I love it when heroes from a previous book join in helping the heroes of a sequel.
I'm surprised people did not get scorched more than they did.

Well worth reading, somehow it was bigger than the first series of 5 books. Probably because in 3 books they had to save Florida.

I think the character and the friend of the character had tryed to escape away from the big wyrm. and they was feeding the wyrm king when it was very little. and it broke out of the little jar and then it grew more and then it had got bigger than the characters. and the big wyrm king had chased them all the wyrm in the street and gave it a slice of little a piece of pizza. when it was very little it looked like a frog.

I never expected a hydra to pop up. That must have been unnerving! Nick dealt with it quite impressively! What a story he can tell his grandchildren, now. I'm sure he has a lot of fans now, but I wish I could talk to him.

I'd give this book 2,5 to 3 stars and that is not because I didn't enjoy the overall plot, it is because I grew to hate that suddenly in the 3rd book all of the characters start noticing and complaining about things that have been plain obvious since book 1 (aka the 6th Spiderwick book). *Spoilers ahead* It is no surprise to anyone with a brain that Nick might not be perfectly blissfully happy about giving up his room for a total stranger who suddenly is his stepsister and on top of that having ...more

The third and final novel in the Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles trilogy. The giants are not backing down; instead they are making more sinkholes with their giant footprints. Within those sinkholes brings these dragon like creatures who breathe methane. Nick and his friends have to really pull their skills together to figure out how to defeat the creatures, and the giants, once and for all. Not only do the characters come together to defeat the creatures, they come together as a family. They st ...more

Loved this book! First on a side note I want to say I'd love to see another spin off series with Jared and Laurie as teens for a ya more than a children's or middle grade audience. Not that that has anything to do with this book but had to share my curious wish.

Even though Nick has been the main character through most of this series I didn't really start to like him at all until the end of the second book and even then it was reluctantly. In this book Nick's character grew into someone I actual

Malory,

The final book and last chapter in the whole Spiderwick Chronicles. Nick and Laurie thought they had saved the world by sending the giants into the sea in the last book, however, they were wrong, and the giants aren't the real threat. The real threat is something far worse, cause sinkholes around town, and the giants are the only ones that can prevent the dragons for causing their destruction. Nick and Laurie don't have the worry though, as they have help from the original Spiderwick protagonist ...more

There's clearly something special about all the Spiderwick books. I get so captivated by the story that once I start reading I can't stop. I know that's a really cliché thing to say, but in this case it's true. Each book in this series I've finished in less than a day. I really am stuck from the moment I open the book. The well-written story and the pictures transport me to where it all takes place. I become friends with the characters and almost fear for myself when the monsters show up.

1. These books were more based in the reality of the Vargas family problems rather than the problems of the fantastical world. The family even went to counseling in the book. They fought magical creatures as a metaphor for learning how to get along as a new family. They became a team and learned communication and love.
2. I was about to go insane that the poor Nixies didn't have fresh water yet. It took them forever to get where they needed to be: three whole books.
3. Both Spiderwick series had t

Finally the last book in this series! What a relief. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this journey. Only some bits and pieces created from a fantasy world. Although, in general it wasn't interesting. Very boring and colorless. Not memorable.

OK, this was a tough review/rating to do. On one hand I enjoyed the story. Just like the original Spiderwick Chronicle books the story was exciting, the artwork was fantastic, and the characters were fun and well developed. So the story in general would get 4 stars from me. However, since the story is aimed primarily at kids I was SUPER disappointed that the story promotes lying! Each book in this series specifically mentions lying. One of the characters lies constantly to the parents in the sto ...more

This was a satisfying conclusion to the world of the Spiderwick Chronicles.

I thought the description of the giant wyrm king guy was disgusting. But I enjoyed how you initially thought the giants were the problem, but they aren’t the worst problem. It was interesting to watch the kids figure it out.

What I liked most was that Jared, Simon, and Mallory all showed back up. I really enjoyed those characters so

In The Wyrm King, book 3 of Beyond The Spiderwick, I like the way the author retells the story by allowing the reader to remember what was left off from book 2. He allows the reader to relieve the conflict between Nicolas Vargas and his psycho step-sister and her thoughts of a magical place. From giants coming out of the ground suddenly, to mermaids playing with Nicolas‘s mind, to a small dragon that grows into a giant dragon connected by its tales, all part of this magical adventure that makes ...more

This is the third and final novel in the "Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles" series. This book was a pretty good one. I still think that the original Spiderwick Chronicles were much better, but if you liked the second novel in Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles than this book won't disappoint.

Diterlizzi and Black have redeemed themselves! For anyone who did not read my review of book 2 I'll just say I was disappointed and hoped this, the final book of the series, would be better. It is! There is plenty of action, interaction of characters, and a satisfying ending for both the book and the series.

Spoiler alert- if you have not read the other books in the series skip to the bottom line. Nick discovers that after all the effort to get the giants into the sea it wasn't such a good thing

This is the third and final book of Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles. I think I mentioned this earlier, but I like how the Grace Children don't just randomly step in and save the day and that it's always shown that this is Nick's story. That isn't to say that the characters don't carry the story to certain points and that each one doesn't play a part in the events (much like a team). I kick myself that it took so long for me to finish the final chapter or to plow through the chapters halfway thr ...more

I finished this book with a sense of the bitter sweet. Sweet because it was the conclusion to a great trilogy. But bitter because it hints that there will be no more books in the Spiderwick world. It is the last book in the Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles trilogy, and the last of 11 books set in the Spiderwick world. What I loved about the afterward by Black and DiTerlizzi was that they encourage others to tell more tales of the fantastical, and we should start seeing books written in homage to ...more

Is this really the last of the Spiderwick books? If so, that makes me sad. I loved the first series and have enjoyed this second series almost as much. I want them to write more! There's a poem at the end that gives some hope, although it sounds like they are inviting others to write stories in their world:

It's time to close the book upon
these chronicles you've read.
But rest assured the faerie realm
is nowhere close to dead.

The world of the fantastical
has tales left still to share
