This graphic novel is a great addition to any library - students (especially students who are adverse to reading) will love it. The main essence of the story is kept, as well as some of the original wording/quotes, and some of the introductions from the chapters - which I feel is a great addition.
However, students who truly loved the original novel will likely be disappointed. I only gave this novel 3 stars because, for me, it's like a book that has been turned into a movie and d...more

Summary: In response to alien attacks, the government is recruiting talented children to lead the military against future strikes. Ender Wiggins is thought to potentially have the right mixture of qualities for effective leadership against the aliens, so he is enrolled in Battle School, where combat maneuvers and psychological probing make up the majority of the curriculum.
Verdict: Meh.

Ender's Game follows the story of Anthony "Ender" Wiggin, the world's smartest six-year old, as he enters Battle School and later Command School in order to win the third war with an alien race known as the "Buggers." (Good thing the author isn't British) This book was interesting, as it presents many various aspects of the human condition while also showing the effect of battle school and the isolation purpously used on Ender to make him a better killer. (Not like he has tro...more
I enjoyed this for many reasons, nostalgia being one and for the simple reason Ender's Game is one of my favorite novels of all time (if you haven't read it, I would highly recommend that you do). This is a decent adaptation, but woefully abridged from the source material. There's so much left out it's only made me want to go back and re-read the novel (so for that I'm giving it three stars).

ender's game has got to be one of my favorite books/series of all time, so obviously i was ecstatic when i found out that marvel was going to do a comic book series based on it. that said, i was thoroughly underwhelmed.
it was really great to see the mind game and battle room and even all of the kids from a comic book perspective, but what was lacking is the story-telling. the actual book is so gripping and emotional and tense and i didn't feel any of that. there is also minimal char...more

Overall I thought the comic was well-done. It was a nice review of the first half of Ender's Game and I loved the art. The story started off strong then bounced around a lot and would have only made sense to someone who read the book, but mostly impressed by the illustrations. My favorite pages were the early scenes when Ender was in school and his struggle with Peter, and later the action that takes place in the Battle Room.

The main character was "good-hearted" and fairly respectable, the plot was interesting, the art well done for a comic-strip style book, and there wasn't any inappropriate clothing/relationship issues. That's about as far as the positives go. The wording through the short book is very secular and coarse, including vulgarity. The pictures are semi-violent including a girl getting slapped across the face, an eyeball picked up from a monster's dead face by a mouse and many pics of Ender...more
I would consider this Graphic Novel to be a companion piece to the novel Ender's Game. I don't see how you could understand some of the action and images if you have not also read the novel.
So as a stand alone Graphic Novel I wouldn't rate it to high, there are too many pieces of information and ideas that have been cut out, or are hiding in the back ground of images.

Adaptations are always touch and go, publishers printing sub-par product to make a buck off of an already existing fan base. On the other hand I would like to see almost everything adapted into graphic form just to see it done and that is definitely true of Ender’s Game. I enjoyed this more than I expected. Cards’ great novel translates well into graphic form and this series seems to be better prepared and developed with more effort than some other adaptations I’ve seen.
I think it was a rather good adaptation of the beginning of one of my favorite novels, "Ender's Game." However, I feel that for it to make sense a lot has to be added from memory of the actual novel. Maybe it's just that I love the entire original book that I feel they cut off important parts (like some feel when a book is made into a film). Either way, I definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it to either Ender's Game fans or graphic novel fans.
Well drawn and follows the first half of the book pretty well. I don't know if I would recommend it for someone that hasn't read the book at all, since it could seem a little hard to follow and it doesn't concentrate all that well on supporting characters. The segment's in Ender's fairytale game were quite well done and really benefited from the graphic novel treatment, so I'd say those portions made the graphic novel worth the read in themselves.
I got in touch with my nerdy side with this book. I loved it, which makes me realize that maybe I should stop making fun of my male friends who also love this book, love Dungeons and Dragons, and love fantasy sports. I haven't read Card's original, but was given a copy by one of the aforementioned nerdy boys and will start it soon. Next thing you know, I'll be reserving a ticket to Comic Con.
This was a pretty impressive book-to-comic adaption and I really enjoyed rereading the story. Missing a bit of Ender's Battle School experience, like all of his being in charge of an army and everything he learned. It also lacked in some of the connections between Ender and his Jeesh. But considering the amount of space you have to work with in comic form, I really enjoyed this adaption.

I loved the book version of "Ender's Game," I think that they've done a great job with the graphic novel. A lot of the details of the book are cut out, but the essentials are there and it seems to flow well. It's translates well visually and I loved seeing all of the battles come to life. For me, the bottom line is that "Ender's Game" is a great story about the human race and the lengths we will go to in order to protect ourselves from real and perceived threats, and I'll pro...more
Ender's Game is one of my favorite books and OSC's world of Ender is such a fabulous place to be. This is a graphic novel depicting maybe the first half of the book. It was wonderful to see the battle room games played out and getting to see how small Ender is compared to his classmates reinforces his predicament. I hope I can find the rest of the series at the library.
A workmanlike adaptation of the scifi classic into comic/graphic novel form, it leaves out too much to make me happy (where's Bean?!?!) but... it might be a nice introduction to the book for people who haven't read it, or for those who just find the graphic novel format more accessible. I wonder if the action would be hard to follow if you didn't ahve the story's background as I did?
Having read Ender's Game recently, I enjoyed seeing it illustrated in this graphic novel. However, I found it a bit hard to follow at times, and I think I would have been really lost if I hadn't read the book first.
Card's original is just so fabulous, that any treatment in another media will pale.
I thought that seeing an artist's vision of the battle room might have helped me to visualize it, but it didn't really. To be honest, I tend to skim spatial descriptions in fiction without deleterious effect. I think.

Though the comic adaptation skips over much of the characterization and depth that the original book had, it still has much of the intensity of the original story. Plus, I just like having some kind of visual adaptation to this story that isn't a movie.
Not as good as its companion, Ender's Shadow: Battle School, but perhaps that's just because I read Ender's Shadow much more recently than Ender's Game. The illustrations made it difficult to tell some of the supporting characters apart.
This is the comic book version of Ender's Game. So far so good. I've read 3 out of 5 comics so far. I'm liking it. Even though I can't really comprehend why they've decided to change the term Bugger for Formic. What's that about?
It's good to go back to these now and then to refresh the memory. The Ender's Game universe has got to be one of the most compelling ones ever created in science fiction.
really liking the adaptation and looking for forword to the movie. my only complaint is that this version gives away too much about the ending durring the course of the story.
I liked this, but it was hard to tell if it would've made as much sense if I hadn't read Ender's Game (like, a hundred times). Still a great book, and a pretty good adaptation.
Adaptation of Card's award winning novel "Ender's Game." Illustrations are wonderful and crystal clear. Looks like it's going to be a series, next novel is "Command School."
It's nice to finally put faces to the characters, but I think a lot of the important details from the novel was lost. Those who haven't read the novel might not appreciate the comic version as much as those who have read it.
A good adaption of what is considered an iconic SF book. This part of the story is about Ender's time in Battle School, where he learns to fight and command.
Thought they did a great job of keeping the feeling of the original story in this snippet of Card's novel. The art is beautiful.

I don't think this would make sense if I hadn't read the book first. Maybe good as a companion piece, but really too condensed to stand alone.
Very good, but I think you need to have read the original book first (which makes sense because the original book was written before this).
