Nate the Great books aren't that great. I hated them when I was a kid, yet I would always read them. The endings of the books were always the same, they figured out what or who did it. And where are Nate's parents? They just let their son walk around everywhere and question people. That is very irresponsible of them. Nate the Great books always made me fall asleep and always wasted my time. I would not recommend this book to anyone, especially little kids. If kids want real mystery, they should r More...

My 6 year old son loves to read, especially mysteries and adventure stories, but he has somehow resisted "chapter books" preferring his Tintin comics and non-fiction about ships, trains, and airplanes. Until a smart librarian introduced him to Nate the Great this weekend, that is. He read all of this particular adventure aloud to me in one sitting, which takes Nate and his dog Sludge to San Francisco, where they solve a mystery that was being handled by Nate's detective cousin Olivia. trying to start reading chapter books to Nate. He had NO, NONE, ZERO interest. He doesn't want to sit still that long. Going to try Little Bear, Henry and Mudge, and others. Mostly I think I will stick to the large picture books. If he had his way, he would be reading all Star Wars, and super heroes, all the time! NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH=) !!!

Fairly typical book in the Nate the Great series, only this time he is on location in San Francisco and being chauffeured around in a limo. Otherwise, it's pretty much like all the others we've read. We enjoy them, though, and will read more as we come across them in our library.

Another good early chapter book for kids. Enough humor and mystery to keep them reading, but not too difficult to understand or read.

Good early chapter books for Tate. He likes the simple mystery storylines. And he likes that "Nate" rhymes with "Tate." : )

The PandaBat loves Nate the Great. I guess mystery fandom starts young.

A good story to use in the study of narrative elements or characterization. A thought provoking solution to a mystery.
