Red Rooms and Others is a delicious book, each poem depicting a room that is grounded in this author's steady presence and attention to life. She read from her 2nd chapbook this week at Open Books in Seattle and it was a delight to hear her voicing these poems.

In "The Night House," she addresses a murder in her neighborhood and the felt trauma, she writes, "But sometimes the dark goes velvet. I come downstairs/barefoot and slowly, familiar but not familiar./My nerve fumbles and I swallow.//Noth...more
