There are so many problems with this book that I don’t think I can name them all. I’ll just mention a few.
The beginning is confusing. Too many characters are introduced at once.
The descriptions are flat. I don’t see the place or the characters involved.
The characterization is lame, and as a result, the narrative lacks focus. There are so many POVs that even after I finished the book I have trouble deciding who the protagonist was. That’s some sloppy writing. Was there even one protagonist? Two?...more

This is the third and final book in Evans' Brytewood supernatural series. This story takes place in the 1940's at the height of the war where Nazis are using vampires to change the course of the war. The plan is for two vampires to come to Brytewood where Winston Churchill is to be visiting and assassinate him. The plan is thought to be simple until the vampires encounter the strange collection of Others (shifters and those with magic) that reside in Brytewood and the Others' plan to stop them....more

This is the final book of the Brytewood series. It is Gryffyth Pendragon's story. Gryffyth is a returning war hero who has lost his leg. He is sure no woman will want him until Mary LaPrioux, an evacuee teacher rooming with Gloria, asks him to dance at his welcome home party. As they learn of each other's otherworldliness, Mary is unsure if they will be sexually compatible and won't agree to marry him until she knows. As Gryffyth struggles to find his place in the village, he finds himself spyin...more

This is the best book in the Brytewood trilogy. You get to finally know all the inhabitants of the town that aren't human.
This is Gryffyth Pendragons story. A war hero who comes back home missing a leg, expecting to find pity and sadness and no life happiness, after all not only is he a cripple in his mind, but he's also a shifter, a dragon.
What he finds is excitement and the love of a beautiful water sprite.
They join the rest of the *Others* in their fight to rid their sleepy town of Nazi Vampi...more

Without a doubt, Bloody Right is the best book in the the Brytewood Trilogy.

This time, the remaining Nazi vampires have been assigned to assassinate Winston Churchill at a party on an estate near Brytewood. The assorted pixies, dragons, elves, sprites, and humans of the village must stop them before they can do the dastardly deed.

The leading lady and man in this installment are Mary LaPrioux, a schoolteacher evacuated from Guernsey, and Gryffyth Pendragon, who has just been discharged from the a...more

Enjoyed this book more than the other two, perhaps it was due to the fact that Mary and gryfyth were the main characters and there relationship appealed to me more than the ones from the other two. Felt the pace moved faster as well, though the side story involving belle's escape seemed like filler unless the author plans on starting a new series revolving around her.

However, as with most books the ending left me feeling unfulfilled. I felt as if too many questions remained unanswered. What wil...more

Nice strong heroines, completes the immediate story arc for this set of books, although the first book's heroine's brother and another secondary character are clearly set up to be available as story - I hope they get written & published.

The supernatural worldbuilding is pretty good and original in these and seems to me to be based more on original sources than on the huge volume of supernatural stuff out there.

In feel the books belong with what is tagged "urban fantasy" but that's particula...more

The editing seemed to be a little better in this one, or maybe I have just gotten used to how bad it was through the other two books. The story wrapped up most of the loose ends, but left one plot line still hanging a bit. I guess that leaves the possibility for a 4th book at a later date if the author decides to expand the series, however a new menace will have to be introduced. Overall, a fun series to read if you are interested in fantasy/paranormal romance. A lot of decent sex sce...more

The battle continues. This time it is Mary, water sprite and refuge school teacher, who must battle Vampires and find true love. Gryffyth Pendragon has returned from the war without his foot. Coming home is shocking, people are giving him pity, Vampires have invaded his home and his father has been up to a lot in his absence.

Why I picked this book up: I wanted to finish the series.

Why I finished this book: I like Mary and Gryffyth was spot on. It's nice to have a hero who is adjusting to life af...more

When I read the first book in the series I was intrigued by the premise of a WWII novel incorporating fantasy elements like dragons, fairies, elves, vampires and shifters. So I kept reading the other books in the series in order to see where the story ended. Unfortunately the books miss the mark somewhat I found that the characters had little or no "on page" chemistry and as a result my attention kept wandering away.

The idea behind these are fun, but the stories are getting more boring and predictable. It was a really quick easy read, or probably wouldn't have read it after the last one. I wish a better writer would run with the world this author created. OK beach reading.

This was a retread of the others, and since the others were not really good....
It had some potential, but missed almost every opportunity to be an OK book.

I just hate a series that ends with one of the story lines hanging... and not done in a good way either... disappointing.

Great! Wonderful! Loved it! I hope there are more stories coming in this series.

Georgia Evans is the pseudonym I use for my Fantasy books. I'm better known as Rosemary Laurey.

The Brytewood books are a different venture from my Paranormal Romance and this series is very special to me as I grew up in the Mole Valley - the setting for my imaginary village - and some of my earliest childhood memories are of seeing the damage wrought on the area by the Blitz, and listening to stor...more
