This was my first Harlequin ‘Blaze’ and for the most part it was what I’ve come to expect from cookie cutter, formulaic romances, however I enjoyed this because occasionally that’s exactly what you’re looking for. AFTERBURN is a charming, moderately steamy read that doesn’t require any real brain power yet still entertains, it’s downright funny in parts, touching and sexy with a mild amount of suspense thrown in to move the story along. As an added bonus you also get a hunky flyboy on the cover ...more
Part of a Blaze miniseries ("Uniformly Hot!") meant to pay tribute to our troops. So, both the hero (a fighter pilot) and the heroine (an Air Force PR officer) are Hot! but not so smart or sober when they think a joke Vegas Elvis wedding would be a hoot. Then the heroine discovers that their "fake" Vegas wedding actually real. So, going with the not so smart theme, she decides not to tell the hero until she can see him again in person. Too bad he's deployed to Iraq, it might be a while...but whe ...more
Afterburn is the fifth instalment of the Uniformly Hot series and is the story about Chase Cardin, a pilot in the Air Force and Sabrina 'Rina' McAllister who works on the PR side of the Air Force. They have known each other for years and although they haven't seen each other for several years, Rina has always held a torch for Chase. It is when they bump into each other in a bar in Las Vegas and drunkenly decide to have an Elvis wedding that things get complicated. Add to that a parent of a dead ...more
I’m a fan of Kira Sinclair and I did enjoy this book but I gave it 3 stars because I did not like Rina. I’m all about being an independent women but the character Rina just kept pissing me off. She was just a flat out b*tch to Chase and he was always nothing but sweet to her.

I hate ready books when the female character is a b*tch through most off the book it just kills the story for me. If the male character is nothing but a sweet heart and all he gets in return is a smart mouth female then the
Resolution of the non-romantic conflict seemed anti-climactic, but I liked Chase & Rina's relationship evolution. The intimate moments were yowza hot.
What a funny book and a great story. It is worth the read!
Positive points: two leads that I definitely liked. Both with daddy issues. The plot was interesting and achieve the goal to make both leads human and didn't paint the opponant as the bad guy but as someone who lost its way.

Negative point: the sexy parts were boring. That's kinda of problem since they are a big part of the Blaze collection.

Hence 2 stars.
I liked this book. It had humor, a little suspense, self-discovery, well expressed emotions, and delimmas that can be very real. I liked the male lead character's fight within himself of being worthy of the medal he was given. I would definitely read this book again, as a passing the time book. Enjoy

OMG, I really loved this one! And yes, I helped with the Air Force stuff just a little bit so maybe I'm biased. But Kira knows how to write a really delicious hero and a heroine who keeps him on his toes!
This was one of the better Harlequinn books. I don't have a lot of choice on ebooks from my library, so I end up with a lot of cheesy romance novels. But this was a sexy read, better than most!
Hot, Kira, Hot! Oh if I could write tension as well as you.... This is a fantastic book. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of it. Good Job Kira!
Fun, holds your attention.

Kira Sinclair is an award-winning author who writes powerful, passionate and sinfully seductive romances. Double winner of the National Readers’ Choice Award, her first foray into writing fiction was for a high school English assignment. Nothing could dampen her enthusiasm…not even being forced to read the love story aloud to the class. Although it definitely made her blush. Writing about striking ...more
