Although I own quite a few anthologies, The Eternal Kiss was the first I actually read. It was difficult initially, just being shown this short look into what could be a fantastic story and having it end all too soon. Thankfully by the third short story, I was addicted to these little samples of fang-tastic tales.

As always, only read Kelley Armstrong's short story Kat. Kat - a subject of the experiments performed by the Edison Group - has been on a run for over 10 years. Now, when the group is closing in, will Kat and her vampire guardian be able to escape once again?
Kat is a great addition to the world of Dark Powers. I hope she will be featured in the future books, I'd love to know more about her. Kat makes another appearance in the upcoming anthology Kisses from Hell in a story titled Hunting Kat.

Anthology - vampire stories - YA. I'll give my overall review here. Most of the stories were okay, some a little better than okay some worse than okay. I think this anthology is more geared toward a 15-16 ish reader and I found myself struggling mostly from boredom to finish it. I think my daughter would enjoy it but she's made a pledge to never read anything I've read first. So if I can pretend surprise, "Oh my gosh, this book sure looks interesting honey. I wonder what it's about?" I may get h...more

Anthology about vampire stories. This was an anthology that I really loved as a teenager and was less crazy about as an adult; nonetheless there are some pretty great stories in there that more or less make up for the flops.
Falling to Ash by Karen Mahoney. Part of a larger series: Moth is a vampire whose trying to establish some independance from her master Theo who's strong-armed her into stealing an urn. There's some attraction with the son of the vampire hunter; and some scenes with...more

This collection of original tales comes from some of the most popular, and best-selling YA writers, including:
Falling to Ash by Karen Mahoney >> Contains the start of a possibly good paranormal romance story between a reluctant vampire (who still feels the need to be accepted by her puritanical human family) and the son of one of the most feared vampire hunters.
Shelter Island by Melissa de la Cruz >> A succinct short story featuring a vampire literally making his way back home--as...more

"Falling to Ash" by Karen Mahoney - read first 5 pages then skipped...i really wasn't interested.
"Shelter Island" by Melissa de la Cruz - skipped, i can't stand melissa's writing
"Sword Point" by Maria V. Snyder - Synder is an awesome writer, so of course her short story around fencing and vampires was great.
"The Coldest Girl in Coldtown" by Holly Black - a descent short story on how vampires are glamorized when really they are just creepy monsters.

The Eternal Kiss is an interesting collection of vampire tales brought together in one brilliant volume – twelve of which are original to the anthology.
I occasionally enjoy reading short stories, so I sometimes find myself buying anthologies like this one to satisfy the craving. On the whole I really enjoyed the stories in this collection. An interesting collection of short stories. I'm not really that much into modern vampire fiction, my taste is more Stoker than Meyer, but this was an entertaining collection of snapshots. The difference in writing styles means that there is a good chance to find one that you like, and the stories are titillating without being excessively graphic.

Yes, I'm a freak. But I read all of these for work, I swear! It's nice to get paid to read YA vampire short stories... I have no complaints!!!
Anyway, these stories for the most part really impressed me. In fact, I had to take breaks between stories since the alternate universes took a while to shake off, in order to move on to another.
Cassandra Clare had an awesome twist in "Other Boys". Shy, sheltered Jennifer finds herself strangely attracted to a new boy who claims to be a vampire. But there...more

A mixed bag anthology with some gems that made it worth the read.
1. Falling to Ash - Moth receives a mission from her master and runs into complications. Kind of a weak start to the anthology, but it still manages a hot scene in between.
2. Shelter Island - Hannah is disturbed by a mysterious presence in her room, evidenced at first by a blinking light. This story felt very disjointed, like it had been rushed through. The characters felt very wooden. Meh.

It was much better than I expected. I don't usually like short stories but there were a few in here that I really like. Unpredictable. Others, not so much. They were still kind of interesting, though.
(Three stars, because, though I did not enjoy all of the stories... I really liked the ones that I did.)
My favorites:
"The Coldest Girl in Coldtown" by Holly Black-- I REALLY want more of this. It was horrid and awesome. I really like how it wasn't fuzzy-bunny vampires. There should be more. Because...more

I picked up this book because I've read/heard of several of the authors, and short story anthologies are pretty cool.
"Falling to Ash" by Karen Mahoney - It wasn't a strong as a beginning to the anthology as I would have liked. I did like reading her "About Author" snippet at the end of the book. Yeah, I agree with wanting to be Buffy so you could kiss both Angel and Spike. :-P Though I wouldn't have minded being Tara, either. I chose to read a few stories from this anthology because it has a couple of my favorite authors, and to get an sort of entertainment from them, I’m definitely game. I immediately went to Clare and Caine’s stories because they are my standout favorites in this group of writers. Overall, they were entertaining, but not quite to the caliber that I know these ladies are capable of. Fun, but I still wanted more.

This is a very entertaining collection of short stories for young adults. Here's what I thought of the stories:
Falling to Ash – Karen Mahoney: I liked the way this story was written, but it didn’t really feel like a complete story. Just little snippets put together that didn’t make a whole. A vampire is asked to do a favor for her sire. 3.5
Shelter Island – Melissa De La Cruz: Very good. A vampire boy comes to visit and has a favor to ask. A complete story that left me wanting to know more. 4.5

I really enjoy anthologies. For the record, I feel like it's a good platform for the author to establish their writing ability and let readers have a sample of their work. It's also great exposure, if you ask me. As a whole, this book is not bad and gave a great variety of stories.

For the record, I really don't like the back cover blurb. It wouldn't interest me at all if I wasn't already a fan of most of the authors herein. Stories are reviewed individually as well as an overall comment at the end.

By appearances, this book is atypical for me. (The cover and title? Ugh.) However, following the work of favored authors and reading their recommendations means I go where they go. The cool part about that is that I get to be pleasantly surprised more often than not... hence the following. And hey, why not vamp things up for Halloween?

Falling to Ash- Karen Mahoney
Moth gets rejected by her birth family, then takes refuge in the love of her new family, who immediately sends her to steal from a Vampire hunter. Sounds to me like BOTH families are abusive.
Overall- Poor, poor Moth. Please don't kill me, Moth.
Shelter Island- Melissa De La Cruz
I like the voice! Much more than I expected, actually. I hope Dylan made it to the mainland.

Probably more of a 2.5, but I'll give it a three because I'm nice like that. I reviewed each story as I read them. You might be able to pick up when I got fed up with vampires.
Falling to Ash by Karen Mahoney: Moth has returned home for her mother's memorial service. Her sire, Theo, decides to take advantage of the situation and send her on a little mission. To be honest I am thoroughly disappointed. I have read some GREAT free anthologies lately here on goodreads and so I was all excited for this one when I purchased it at the local library. Several of the authors I have read some of their works before and so I thought this would be a sure success. Let me tell you I enjoyed only 2 of the stories, most of the others were tolerable and some were just plain horrid. I liked "Falling to Ash" and "All Hallows" . The Eternal Kiss (by: Trisha Telep) - This book is a collection of vampire tales that were written by many different authors. There are many great tales in the book, but all of them are as great as I have hope for them to be. Some is just so boring with not so much actions in it that it will make you fall asleep sitting on the chair. However, the good part is that this book does contain some tales that are worth reading. I choose to read this book because some of the tales are written by authors...more
Thoughts while still reading the book:
The stories I've read so far are less like short stories and more like background information on characters that feature in the authors' novels. This is very disappointing because it leaves me feeling, so far, that the anthology is a means of selling novels rather than an attempt to entertain a reader.
EDIT: Now that I've finished the book, here are the short stories that I consider the best in the anthology:

This is an excellent sampler of the range of writing talent in young adult horror fiction. Some authors clearly excel in the short story form. Holly Black, in particular, has been a find. Her story, “The Coldest Girl in Coldtown', had me almost in tears. I was both enthralled and devastated.

First of all, this review contains one teensy weensy spoiler.
It's safe to say I won't be reading anymore anthologies anytime soon.
I'd like to say that I enjoyed it, but the truth screams otherwise. I was somewhat bored throughout most stories, and I just wanted it to be over. And I wasn't exactly thrilled about the stories from authors I'd already read from.

I really this dislike this anthology. I'm not bad at reading short stories, actually I really aprecciate them and I consider them good they have good endings and the reader feel complete with what he had read, but in this anthology I barely found 3 good ones.

The Eternal Kiss has an amazing variety of authors. This one is a good one to pick up if you like vampire short stories in the YA genre.
My favourite was the Morganville Vampires short story “All Hollows” by Rachel Caine. Even though I haven’t read all of her books from the series, I found myself totally loving this one. It’s told from Eve’s perspective and is much more entertaining than reading from boring old Claire’s point of view.
