This book was on the coffee table when I came home for Christmas break from Grinnell College during the freshman year. Dad had gotten a subscription to the magazine.

Although other issues of Avant Garde contained both articles and high quality graphics, many of them quite good, this issue was entirely devoted to Picasso's erotic engravings which, like most of his late work, didn't impress me at all. freaking awesome, honest, gorgeous, timeless. free as birds and fine as frog's hair. these images speak to me in exquisite detail and beauty, with much mirth.
