Each book in this series just keeps getting more and more intense.

I feel so bad for David and Xander (the two main kids) because THEY ARE SO BEAT UP. They remind me of Daredevil, getting beat up, but still crawling towards the bad guys like, "I'm coming for you." and then the bad guys just kick him in the face.

I love the little twist at the end because who saw that coming? (view spoiler)

I love this series, quite a lo

Encantada con la historia, y sí,ya quiero saber el final, pero quiero seguir aventurándome con Xander, David y Toria.
Vamos, que esto no es que el final.

After reading the past 4 books in this series immediately following each other, i feel like i am finding flaws in them more often. Not that they are repetitive in any way, but they always, ALWAYS start with something crazy happening, get kinda calmed down in the middle, then end with another time traveling occurrence. I'm not knocking this set up either, it's pretty fun and helps push the story along, giving that you know they're going to some crazy world in a couple of pages, even if you're kin ...more

I finally finished this series , they are short books, but they are so fast paced that you are left kind of tired and exhausted reading them... I couldn't handle Davids broken arm constantly being hit and banged up in all his adventures, I thought who could handle that much pain...but I did like how this whole story was very family focused , I liked how the brothers cared about each other and worked together to save their Mom. It was an interesting and fun series

As Dad seeks help from an out of town friend, Keal is left to watch the boys. Jesse is still in the hospital and advises the boys to do good while they are in the portals. It is what they are there for...to make changes and save lives. In the process of doing just that, the boys discover the can go from place to place without having to go back home first. Instead of waiting on Dad, they decide to follow the creature that took their Mom back his homeland. Unfortunately, Taksidian is there and wan ...more

I’ll be honest, during the reading of this book, I started getting really worried about the King boys. They’ve been through more in one week than most people will have gone through in a lifetime. Physical ailments and pain aside, they’ve gone through some incredibly frightening situations. They’ve watched their mother being kidnapped. Their father’s been arrested. They have strangers in and out of their house while they have no adults in the house. This is some seriously scary stuff.

A lot of que

Well THAT escalated quickly.

Haha, this one is not my favorite of the series, but it was better than the majority of the series. I don't have much to say about it, I'll state everything in the next book, which'll be the last.

This specific book opens with Taksidian pursuing Xander and David locked in a chamber. As you can tell, this book was FILLED with action, more than the previous ones if it's possible. I have to admit, at times I zoned out a bit, as it was 4am when

The title was very apt for this one. After reading it, there's only one word I thought of: more. More violence and gore, more dangerous, more questions...and I want to read more of them.

This closely follows the previous book and though I wasn't able to finish it in a day, it's not for lack of interest. The portals were getting more...difficult to escape to from a certain world/time and I liked how David and Xander changed the course of history by doing what Jesse advised - to get the doctor in t

This book was so so good. So action packed and fast paced it was really hard to put down and I loved every minute.

This books are really fun and I wished that I had read them a lot sooner than I have. These books were amazing and I really have a fun time reading them.

The things that the author puts the family in is always dangerous but some how some way they always manage to figure out a way not to get killed and fight back to save each other from the things that they go through. It is hard imagi

Another good one in this series. While they have been jumping back and forth in time through the portals, this book gets more detailed in some of the historical settings. You start to see some of the "alternate" histories that were part of the "memories" until the Kings were able to make their "adjustments" to history. While I do like the usual twists and turns that are in this book, like they are in all of the other books in this series. I was disappointed in a reference to "millions of years" ...more

It took me until the 5th book in this series to realize why I liked it so much and why it was familiar - Quantum Leap! Kind of the same premise, just a few different twists thrown in. And strangely enough, I'm also watching the Quantum Leap series now....Fate? Who knows....

So, I love a good YA series, and this is definitely a great one. One complaint though - I really don't think that every single person remembers history as accurately as ALL the people in the book. Everyone knows the year the C

I started to suspect this was turning into christian fiction & after the hospital scene, it seems I was correct. I would not have read these if I had known that was the case & feel that these should be more clearly labeled. I am quite frustrated I have spent money on books I normally would not have purchased and I still have half of this & 1 more to go. Very aggravated at the time and money I have invested, knowing I will more than likely be very unsatisfied with the conclusion of th ...more

The first few books seemed all over the place, and I wasn't sure if I was even going to finish the series. Glad I kept going. This book is really starting to tighten things up, giving us an idea of what the heck is actually going on while leaving enough questions unanswered that I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this wraps up. I'm enjoying the mixture of history and fantasy as well, though some of the characters fall a little flat. Whirlwind is definitely titled appropriately. It was ...more

This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I had taken a long break from the series to give myself a rest from the crazy lives of the King boys. Though I didn't feel this book progressed the story much, I found myself reading for longer periods of time than normal and getting worked up over some character decisions. I really hope the next book concludes in such a way that honors the five books preceeding it. It is time for this story to end. This was the fifth book in a seri ...more

this one is gooooooood. love the act scene, forget about Dad and Toria or any other character.

even there's a few flaws in this story for me, especially Dad's parts which almost none of any emotion at there... even the attitude is show his emotions but there's nothing that confide me after all this time. i still branded him that there're nothing matter to him anymore as soon as he got what he want.

but, for the rest... i'll give it 4,5*

As the King family continues to look for their mom, it seems that their adventures are escallating. They can't get a break or a breath as now the boys Xander and David are stuck in the past. Each time they find a portal it doesn't take them back to the house like usual. It takes them into other times, one more dangerous than the last.

They've also been told my their uncle Jesse that it is the Kings' destiny to change and fix the past to ease the suffering of man. No pressure!

This book was amazing! I got to learn more about Taksidian then ever before! The ending was so nuts! I was so shocked, I couldn't even guess, my guess was way off. This book really pulled all the pieces together from the last few books and helped anything that was confusing make more sense. I started this book and it was pretty slow, but it picked up the pace really quickly and by then there was no way I could put this book down! I would take it out in class to read for the few minutes before th ...more

Another good book in the Dream House Kings series. I applaud you Robert Liparulo. This mystery adventure continues on the adventure of Xander, David, Toria, their dad, and new characters like Jesse, Keal, and the King family's lost grandma. In this part of the series, the Kings are still looking for their mother with the aid of their great uncle Jesse and experience some unfortunate turns. My favorite part of the book is when David gets teleported to the dark small chamber with bones on the floo ...more

May contain Spoilers!!!!

These books really aren't that entertaining. I just want to find out the end. At least we finally figure out where Taksidian came from, Atlantis. And how he stole the mother and grandmother to hand over to the kings. Seeing how Atlantis gets destroyed, I'm guessing he is trying to find a way to fix it or make a new world like it. I don't really like the way Liparulo paints Atlantis, so evil and cruel. At least it's one I havn't read of though. Makes it more interesting.

The first 2 books were real cliff hangers, I was interested, excited, entertained, and couldn't wait to get to the next book. After that it got old, I don't know why I bothered to read the last two books (Timescape, and Whirlwind, maybe because I had to start something and not finish it.) Anyway, the books soon became boring. I lost interest, and didnt bother reading the 6th book. The author should have cut it down from 6 books to 2, cut out a lot of the repetitive nonsense and it would have bee ...more

After a close brush with Taksidian the Kings discover a portal from his house to theirs. Only it's been walled in and Taksidian uses it as a very slow way to kill people and David is trapped inside. We see how one little action changed the scope of the Civil War.

I like seeing the changes in history the best. One little action can have enormous impact. I also liked the idea of getting Toria out of the house for a bit. So young and innocent - I don't wish these kinds of things on any child. Anothe

Loved it! books one - four were all amazing, and i devoured them. I forced myself to slow down and actaully enjoy this book. Allowing myself time to think about what i was reading. Liparulo spins a wonderfully exciting web of wild and crazy page turning ideas. Now book five and still not close enough to saving mom. With Taksidian always multiple steps ahead of the king family i have no idea how the next book could possibly wrap up this families incredible story.

I'm still enjoying this series. I'm glad to have it all lined up; it is more of a single story subdivided than a series of individual stories. It's light and fun to read; but also creepy and suspenseful. And in one part, gruesome.

I really feel like they should have (view spoiler)

This one felt like it dragged a little to me. Still plenty of action, excitement, and good and creepy times, but I feel like it lacked a bit. This book mostly centers on one day and I guess I would've liked a little less detail all in one day. I would've preferred that it was stretched out. It's still a great addition that goes with their story well and there are finally some answers, but I'm glad to be moving on to the next (and final! Yay!) book.
