Jungle Breezes is a heartfelt tribute to Elam and Barbara Stoltzfus, and their family, and was written by their daughter-in-law Dara Stoltzfus.I enjoyed reading about this extraordinary, courageous family. The faith, love, service and sacrifice that they exhibited is remarkable. Dara did a fantastic job retelling the stories and events; many times I felt like I was beside the family members as events unfolded. I really enjoyed this book. Elam goes from being an Amish boy in Lancaster County, PA to a missionary in Guatemala. Along the way there is much adventure as he survives confrontations with the guerrillas and witnesses a number of other hair-raising events! Elam, out of necessity, learned how to administer both medical and dental care. Elam's wife became a mid-wife, again, out of necessity. Later on in the book, their son, Virgil, becomes a pilot so he can fly critical patients to a city hospital ...more
