I just finished de Maagdenkooi (the English version is called "The Caged Virgin"), the middle part of the collection, as a sort of counterpoint to Fatima Mernissi. It isn't exactly that - Hirsi Ali even mentiones Mernissi in the book, and not unfavorably - and it isn't nearly as anti-Islam as I was expecting. She makes a lot of good points but much of the book assumes a very adversarial relationship within Muslim families that I have never observed among the emigrants of Muslim countries whose a ...more
