Transcendent is about love of family with a twist of African history. A bit of a slave rebellion is part of the basis of the theme. I didn’t realize how prominate a role St. Simons Island, Georgia played in this particular rebellion. Kimberly Perdue-Sims opens her story telling of the drowning of the Igboland people in a small Nigerian Village running from slavers.
