A rumor has persisted in the vampire world of a dark slayer—a woman—who travels with a wolf pack and any among the vampires who meets her is slain. Mysterious, elusive and seemingly impossible to kill, she is the one hunter who strikes terror into the hearts of the vampires.

Ivory Malinov is that woman, betrayed by her own people, by her family, by everyone she held dear an...more

I should say that I don't hand out five star ratings lightly, but this one was worth it.

I have been on a bit of a Dark series marathon for the last few weeks...I believe I have read the last 12 in the series one after the other. And for some reason, I have been looking forward to the story of Skylar and Dimitri. Or Dominic. Or Zacharias. But...Razvan and Ivory Malinov? Not so much. Didn't really seem like a must-read to me, even though the tortured Razvan seemed to have potential. But man did th...more

I think I've said this for the past 3 Carpathian books I reviewed, but this really is the best Carpathian book so far. Or close to it atleast. Dark Slayer is about Ivory Manilov and Razvan.

Ivory is the sister of the 5 Manilov brothers who purposely turned Vampire because they thought they could rule the world that way. Ivory was tortured and hacked and left for dead by Mikhail's brother Draven and the vampires under Xavier's direction. However mother earth and the wolves saved her and now she sl...more

Dark Slayer twists the series' formula into Something different but something good

Deviating a bit from the normal formula of her other 'Dark' Carpathian books, Feehan's Dark Slayer was a unique entry into the popular long running series and ended up being one of my favorites of Feehan's more recent offerings. Though fans who live for Feehan's uber alpha males may be disappointed, I really liked long time series villain Razvan as he takes a turn in the spotlight. Razvan is no less powerful for...more

Centuries ago, a young girl was cut to pieces on a meadow, her remains left to the wolves. The animals, instead of consuming the remains, buried them, and Ivory Malinov was reborn. Now, she’s a slayer of vampires, an ancient warrior with only one goal in life – find and destroy the man who ordered her execution, Xavier, the dark mage. Then she discovers the fickleness of Fate, when she stumbles upon a man lying in the snow and recognizes him as her lifemate…And Xavier’s grandson.

Centuries ago, a...more

Oh my goodness! I know I say this (almost) after reading every book in this series, but here I go again - Dark Slayer it the BEST of the series so far! It is different from most of the other books, in that we finally get a hero who is powerful and confident, but COMPLETELY without ego! Due to the horrors endured in his life as a prisoner of Xavier, Razvan has a quiet strength, and is definitely the only man who could possibly be a match for Ivory. A former long-time villain and enemy of the Carp...more

Okay, if she were a real person, I'd strangle Ivory. The scene that really did it for me was the approx. 5 pages of her arguing with everyone about saving some dying babies. "You must save the babies!". Ivory, "Do you really want me to save the babies?" "Yes, save the babies." Ivory, "Really?" UGH!!!!

And then the dirt, how many ways can you describe the deliciously nutritious dirt. About 100 pages it seems. And then when I start liking the main characters, here comes some more dirt!

I loved it! I laughed, I cried both in sadness and in happiness. I think this is possibly my favorite in the series now. Ivory and Razvan's story was wonderful, they were perfect for each other. They really were each others soul mate. I loved the quiet strength of Razvan, yet we see such heartache and vulnerability in him at times, because of his past. And Ivory, what a great heroine, she was so strong, and yet really has such vulnerabilities too. It was great how the two of them were each other...more

This is one of those series which may have gone on too long. The author is beginning to add more and more magical elements/character types. I like the series and have read all of them and don't suppose I'll quit but I hope there doesn't start being elves and demons and Greek gods and stuff.

Okay this book. I liked it pretty well. It has a strong heroine and Razvan is a great tortured hero. I really enjoyed seeing him get a story as I had suspected in earlier books that he wasn't as evil as portra...more

I loved this story. I cried at least 3 different times during this book….(okay so it was more like 7 or 8 times). I am no cry baby sissy wuss. It really takes a lot to get me going. But Feehan has managed to tug on my heart strings in what I believe is her best story yet. Razvan turns out to have such moral fortitude. The love that is portrayed between Razvan and Ivory is so deep that it brings tears to the eyes of the secondary characters in the story. The fact that Gregori and Prince Mikhail c...more

Let's see if I can manage to write a review about this book without spoiling the previous sixteen installments for anyone. Seriously, the best compliment I can give this book is that I'm thankful there are sixteen other books plus three novellas, so maybe it won't be so painful and hard to wait for the new one to come out next year!

For any newcomers to the series, and if you are indeed a newcomer I suggest you get to the library ASAP to rectify the situation, the Dark series is a paranormal roma...more

Jeez Louise! The book was a monster! How in the world did she pack all that into this one, average-long book? This was Ivory and Razvan's story. I didn't think I was going to like Ivory, pinning her as another Natalya/Destiny/Jaxon combo. Turns out, I really liked her. She wasn't macho he-woman wannabe that i'd expected. Her strength came from her intelligence and perserverence. She suffered without being man-like tough or whimpy whiney fetal position girl. Razvan was extremely likeable. He came...more

Best one of the entire series for me, Feehan finally wrote the book I was waiting for. Ivory and Razvan's is eloquent and heart tugging in it's beauty and I hope that we see more of them in the next book "Dark Peril".

It was very nice to have a "change of pace" in this book from all the never ending bedroom drama and histronics that every other "lifemate bonding" entails so far to date. I enjoyed how the book took the relationship between Ivory and Razvan, loved the cameos of all the other Carpat...more

For some reason I never felt a connection to either Ivory or Razvan. It almost felt like the author was trying to retell a story that was from ancient history, no one cares anymore, but this is what happened blah blah.

Every time I did start to like one of the characters, they started to whine about how hard they had it. Really? Yeah it sounded really bad but whimpering after all those centuries have gone by... no. Give it up, or give up.

There were a few "minor" details that irritated me, in addi...more

Being a fan of Feehan's Dark Series, I was really excited when I got the notice from the library that the book was available. I had read some reviews of this book, so knew the story was going to be about Razvan. I must admit, I was slightly dissapointed that he was going to be the next one (although his character was intriguing and had alot of potential) as I was hoping for Dimitri and Skyler's story. Despite my slight disappointment, I found myself quickly drawn into the story and Razvan and Iv...more

finally here is a woman in a carpathain story who is just as bad as the rest of the males. its about the infamous Ivory Malinov, the young girl thought to have been killed. left for dead and with the help from some furry friends and mother nature she survives a horrible ordeal and lives with one purpose. to kill Xavier the evil mage responsible for her unspeakable attack. She finds a male laying in the woods. He is Razvan. Branded a criminal, detested and feared, he has managed to free himself f...more

I have never read the Dark series before this book, but I could see the lure of it. It is a lovely tale about romance and lots of wonderful, gory magic. I feel that Dark Slayer wasn't stand-alone in that it refers to many of the other books and a lot of the interpersonal relationships are based on those previous tales. I'm willing to skip over the obvious interactions and because of that, I enjoyed it greatly. The interplay of magic wove nicely into the tale. The mix of science and magic, on the...more

Feehan’s descriptive tale of paranormal romance and suspense is sure to keep fans of her Carpathian series satisfied! While this installment may not be as exciting as previous novels, it still has all the basic elements to make a story all Feehan fans will love!

Dark Slayer begins with Ivory. Ivory is a Carpathian or more commonly known as a vampire. She is a loner, untrusting of others like her because hundreds of years ago her Carpathian brothers tried to kill her and ultimately all turned evil...more

Oh My God! This book is amazing! I'm a fan of the series and had to read all the other books to finally be able to read this one (that was the first book I bought and didn't know was a series so I had to put it down to be able to understand the story)! I must say I have no regrets!

I couldn't put it down and I loved some couples, but Ivory and Razvan are truly special! When reading the previous books you can have an idea how Razvan could be, but I don't believe one could see him how he is present...more

Feehan brings new life back into the series that captured my imagination but had started to feel redundant and stale. Was so happy to be introduced to Ivory, ecstatic to learn that not everything we knew was right. After 'Dark Celebration' the series has been winding tighter and 'Slayer' does justice to all the work Mikhail has been doing for his people.

There is still the romance aspect, although thankfully she breaks her normal scenes and adds some new flare to the couples interludes. I had bec...more

So normally I love all of these books, but this one was not one of my favorites. I can see why many readers enjoy Ivory and Razvan as a couple, and some of their interactions were sweet. It wasn't enough to save the book for me though.

What really dragged this one down is that it is extremely campy even by the standards of vampire romance novels. One part that I couldn't read with a straight face was the wolf pack that could transform into tatoos or fur coats depending on the needs of the action...more

I was very glad to see that Razvan was getting his own story after it was revealed that Xavier had possessed Razvan, using his body to betray his family and Razvan was too honourable to let them know it wasn't him, as no one would risk themselves to save him if they believed him to be evil. So he suffered the full brunt of Xavier's torture and experiments to keep his family safe the only way he knew how.

After Lara, Nicolas, Natalya and Vikirnoff destroyed Xavier's lair, he was forced to move Raz...more

I was pretty impressed with this book. I decided to give Feehan a try mostly because my patrons are always crazy for her. While the outcome of the love story wasn't exactly surprising(if it's your 'lifemate' than you will probably end up liking them) and the sex was a little more graphic than I usually like, the characters' backstories were extremely engrossing and kept me interested. Obviously, there are multiple books in this series and I jumped in at the end, but I was surprised at how well I...more

I think I will have to admit defeat with the Carpathian series. I want to like them, really I do - the world buiding is fantastic, the premises usually great, sweeping romance, plenty of action - but I just can't because the writing is so repetitive and I end up stalled, rolling my eyes and skimming - which I hate to do.
Every other chapter or so in Dark Slayer the entire story of what happened to Ivory is repeated, and then the story of what happened to Razvan after he is introduced and everytim...more

I've read several of the Dark novels by Christine Feehan and they have been my favorite vampire romance series for quite some time.

This novel though was a major let down for me. I just felt the romance was very meh, and the over all plot didn't grip me like the others. I probably won't be continuing the series, I just feel like this is where the Dark Series ends for me and I'm sad it ends on a more lack luster note.

Ivory was a very strong and powerful lead, but I found her so emotionally cripple...more

I picked up the Dark series not too long ago hoping for a change of pace from my usually reality-based reading. The two books I read were a disappointment, if I were to be honest. I quickly tired of the heroine being stubborn and the hero being barbarically dominant. The books I read were early on in the series and I had pretty much decided not to try reading any more after those. But then I read some of Feehan’s Leopard series and really enjoyed those books, so I thought I’d give the Dark serie...more

Dark Slayer has to be the best so far. Ivory is the strongest of the female so far. And Razvan actually has suffered for his whole life that he most grateful to have a lifemate like Ivory that he accepts he for how she is. Which for a carpathian male is unheard of. It makes him most attractive.

Ivory has been alone most of her life. She grew up surrounded be 10 strong males her 5 brothers the Malinovs and there 5 close friends De La Cruz brothers. She was treated like a princess by them. When the...more

I loved this book.. lots of action and a wonderful relationship between Ivory and Razvan. In a way it's a paranormal take on the story line that I always like..where to "damaged" individuals help "heal" each other. Of course, in this book.. it even takes on a more literal meaning.

I've been reading this series out of order and yet it hasn't really mattered. When couples are introduced that I haven't read about yet.. it just makes me want to go find their book.

This may be on of my favorites of th...more
