I was already a fan of Jack Gantos, but now I'm truly impressed by his range of writing. Whether he is recounting his own life in a story best heard by older ears ("Hole in My Life"), or creating fantastical tales for teens of family pathos ("Love Curse of the Rumbaughs"), Gantos is a master storyteller. Here he spins the yarn of the neighborhood bad-boy cat, down to his last life. This picturebook is sure to entertain the older reader who reads this aloud to young childre More...

This childrens book was a about a cat who felt sick one day and his little girl owner took him to the vet. The vet told them that he has used up eight of his nine lives and only has one left. Ralph goes through how he lost his lives and his owner vowed to protect his last life. The book was a little silly, but not the most satifying children's book. Probably interest children who like cats and animals; also has simple illustrations for younger children. I would suggest this book for first throug More...

Very cute story of a bad cat with a sweet owner. Full of mischief, wonderful pictures. Good for kids maybe ages 3-6. Each page has a paragraph or so, hard to keep the attention span of a toddler if you are actually trying to read the story. A lot of great imagery in the background adds a lot of dimensions to the story.

I don't like the Rotten Ralph books much. The drawings are crude and the stories are lame. Basically, a sweet girl owns a horrible, obnoxious cat. I think this cat could be Jack the Ripper in disguise and she'd forgive him.

Ralph has used up 8 of his 9 lives and now has to be very well behaved and careful. But will this make Ralph happy? I'm not a huge Rotten Ralph fan but if you are then this is a good installment . Ages 7+

A horrible book. Talks about the eight lives a cat has lived and how he's been bad so now he has to be good on his last life so he can go to cat heaven (but not too soon).

Terribly disappointing. Rotten Ralph wasn't even a BIT naughty - he just talked about his former naughty days. I wanted some rottenness, just like the Ralph I remember!

Visiting a different library, saw this, and despite the fact that so far the only Rotten Ralph story I've liked was the first, I decided to grab this. It was actually better than some. The illustrations were, once again, psychedelic & vibrant & worth spending time exploring. The story was sufficiently creative.
