Sakamichi No Apollon was the most addictive graphic novel I have ever read! I savored it over and over and bought the animation, which I watched over and over. The story was amazing. I really cared about the characters, and the ending was very satisfying. I exposed everyone in my family to it – husband, children, mother and all felt similarly.

Ms Yuki Kodama has taken meticulous care in building up human relationships. The character development far surpasses most of the graphic and written novel...more
[WHY DO I KEEP DOING THIS TO MYSELF ughhhh i need to sleep more]

This manga reminds me of Nodame Cantabile.
And I love it.

I had mixed feelings for this at the very beginning, but not anymore. Sakamichi No Apollon is a really lighthearted story with highlights of intensity and drama. I love following all of the characters, and the jazz element only makes it so much better. My only complaint, if any, is that classical music is (slightly) implied to be stiff and pretentious. It's all right, though;...more
light and fun, esp. towards the end. i think it would work way better if the romance were between the two guys, though, considering all the blatant homoerotic undertones that are there anyway. XD (MAYBE LATER VOLUMES?!?!)

Had a grand time with this. Just youtube Moanin' and continue with the recommendations while reading to follow suit.

Important supplement for Murakami readers.

Gonna make this quick, this is one of the must read mangas out there.
Basically about friendship, love, family, and strong bonds between best friends, with a heavy touch of jazz music theme.

I'm in love with this manga and was able to finish the whole volumes in one throw (and ended up listening to some of the songs mentioned in the manga).
Rich of emotion, fun, and feelings, without being sappy, Sakamichi No Apollon (Apollon on the Slope) might take you to understand more and memorize why you're h...more

Sakamichi no Apollon. I'm glad that I decided to read this manga after read a great fantasy manga "Silver Diamond" by Sugiura Shiori. Both have different storytelling, art style, theme and plot, but they really made my day, I found it really pleasant to encounter such great pieces in a short times.

This manga has a simple and classic theme : love, friendship, dream and music (jazz) that happened in 1966. I had read many historical manga, but this one really gave refreshing feeling to me, especia...more
I love this touching manga. Though it's not beautifully drawn, it is done with a ton of love and it shows in the characters and their relationships with each other. The anime made me start reading this and I'm glad I did. It rounds things out quite a bit. I can' wait to continue.
This was so cute! I'm loving the story so far and the art is amazing.
I also love Sentarou so much, his personality and everything about his character are amazing, (you're reading the review of someone who is obsessed with troublesome characters).

After reread this manga carefully, I found it not bad at all, really interesting, funny and made you think more and more after each pages.
