Dr. Kaler is a folksy professor who has a passion for the sky and stars and wants to share that with the reader. If you are an astronomy buff or just someone who enjoys looking up at night, then this lecture series is for you. While it is detailed and I am not an astronomer, I learned something new in every lecture. Foreign terms made clear. Playful textbook. Poetic stories, mythology of the constellations. Genius, accessible, applicable introductory science. Taking it for night spins to heavens watch is a breeze.

Not bad but not deep. The section on coordinates is pretty good and the sky tour is fine for a newcomer. The science doesn't go very deep but there's a lot of time spent on mythology of the constellations. Here, Kaler is a fine storyteller.
