I’m pretty surprised by the amount of knitting plots found in contemporary romances lately. The latest in this trend is by Lori Wilde who has a new series for Avon. The first book, The Sweetheart’s Knitting Club takes place in the small town of Twilight, Texas. Ten years ago Jesse Calloway was arrested for cocaine and gun possession and sent to prison. He gets a reduced sentence for saving a fellow inmate and stopping a prison riot. He’s released and heads back to Twilight where the girl he left...more

Flynn (the main character) and I just didn't get along.

She started getting on my nerves from the start. She's been dating the sheriff, Bo, for ten years now, but keeps turning him down when he asks her to marry him. I find this behavior to be selfish in the extreme. He gives her an ultimatum in the first chapter -- marry me or break up -- that should probably have come years ago, but since he's not the romantic hero I could forgive him for his spinelessness in not forcing the issue sooner. Flyn...more

The Sweethearts' Knitting Club is Lori Wilde's debut novel for the Twilight series. Tenderly woven in the story are elements of young, true and unrequited love, a love shared by Twilight's sweethearts Jesse Calloway and Flynn MacGregor.

The love that started with such promise is fractured when Jesse is arrested, convicted, imprisoned, and ultimately separated from Flynn. Despite the passing of time - ten years, their love quietly simmers and lingers staying true to its unrequited nature. In the s...more

I found this book series on a whim, on my Nook. I figured, why not. They were super cheap and sounded pretty okay. Definitely something out of the ordinary for me, so I just went for it. I have to say, that I was totally surprised to find that I actually enjoyed this book. At first I was worried that it would be all about knitting and that quickly changed, right into the first chapter.

Jesse Calloway, who was named after famous outlaw, Jesse James, is an outlaw himself. Being sent to prison for 1...more

I found the story of Flynn and Jesse to be a sweet story of second chance love. In a Town who was founded by two second chance lovers.

Jesse was a boy sent to prison for a crime he did not commit. He was a boy with a troubled past brought to Twilight, Texas by his loving Aunt after his mother dies. His real crime was falling in love with Flynn MacGregor. Now Jesse, the man, is back release from prison early for good behavior, he returns to Twilight to prove he is innocent and to claim is one tru...more

The Sweethearts' Knitting Club by Lori Wilde is the story of love and redemption in a small Texas town.

Jesse Calloway has spent the last ten years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He is sure that he was set up on a cocaine charge by the sheriff's son, Beau Trainer. When Jesse gets out early, he heads home to Twilight, Texas to clear his name, get revenge on Beau, and reclaim his lost love, Flynn MacGregor. Unfortunately for Jesse, Flynn has just accepted Beau's fourth marriage proposal.

My Thoughts: I have read a few of Lori's previous work and loved them so when I heard about this one, I knew I had to read it as soon as it was released. We meet Flynn who is an all around good nice girl who always puts everyone else first because she cares about people. She has turned down the sheriff's marriage proposal 4 times now because she still has a soft spot in her heart for another man (even though she tells herself this isn't why). Its been 10 years and as soon as she lays eyes on Jes...more

Flynn MacGregor has been dating prim and proper Beau since high school. Jesse, her high school sweetheart, is out of prison for a crime he did not commit, but everybody believes he did. He decides to come back to Twilight to start a motorcycle business, or is it to aggravate his rival, Beau. Every time Flybb sees Jesse, their gazes smolder... But she finally said she would marry Beau. Now she wrestles with what she think she should do and what her heart seems to be telling her. And perhaps Beau...more

Flynn'a ise kesinlikle sinir olacaksınız.Jesse Flynn'ı ne kadar tanıyorsa Flynn'da Jesseyi o kadar tanımıyor.Jesse'nin suçsuz olduğuna inanacağına tam tersi davranıyor.İnsan sevdiğinin neyi...more

This book needed a completely different title, it had very little to do with knitting or the knitting club until the very end of the book.

I hate it when you get sucked into a story and the author introduces characters and gives you background information about that person but then never follows through with the rest of the story. For example, in this book, the authro intorudces you to an aunt and the local EMT. You learn a bit of their backgrounds and then it goes nowhere. They are just backgro...more

I love when a mish-mash of people come together to do something they enjoy, in this case knitting and gossiping of course. This group of ladies have their own quirks, problems and secret fantasies, well at least one has. Flynn is still carrying a torch for her high school sweetheart who happens to be a bad boy. But this boy, man now, has his own problems to deal with and wants to bring the person responsible for his years in prison to justice.

It was a fast paced story, it had funny moments and s...more

I have to say i was disappointed. I think the biggest problem was i just didn't like the heroine. I couldn't understand why she persisted with the thoughts and feelings she persisted with and this left me asking why the hero, Jessie, would put up with her? Because I couldn't connect with Flynn, I did not feel emotionally involved in the story and found it to be melodramatic and over done, particularly the chemistry that the author tried to create but in my opinion failed to generate. The sex sce...more

Nice, contemporary romance set in a fictitious small town in Texas. Because it is the start to a series, we are introduced to all the quirky towns people and told their history. Flynn is the heart and soul of the town. She has taken care of her family after her mother died and her father was an alcoholic. She takes care of everyone. She hold a monthly knitting group at her house even though she can't knit and she has plans to open a knitting store all because this was what her mother wanted for...more

The Sweethearts Knitting Club book was my first book from Wilde And it was an enjoyable one. Wilde's writing style was easy to read and I was easily able to get into the characters.

Flynn has been infatuated with her bad boy high school crush, Jesse for the last decade. During these years Jesse had been incarcerated for the wrong reasons because of Flynns jealous all American boyfriend, Beau. Jesse comes back to seek avengence against Beau and to see if there is any passion left between the only...more

This is a love triangle. I really did not care for Flynn ( Women ).
She strings the sheriff on for 10 years, while she is in love with the bad boy type who is in prison.

I was surprised at the explicit sex which none of the reviews mentioned. Some indication of the sexual descriptions would have kept me from buying this book that gained nothing from all the sexual descriptions.

So I'm returning to contemporary romance after a while, never heard of the author before, but it sounded interesting so I'm giving it a chance. Hopefully it's awesome ;)

It was... okay. There was sweet and tender romance, which I liked.. but that's about it. You knew pretty much all the time what's gonna happen and who's the bad guy, but hey, sometimes it's great to have something very quick and easy to read =)

I'd actually like to give this 3.5 stars. Initially I didn't get into it but I liked the main characters a lot. I kinda skimmed through the first 5 or so chapters and got really into it near the middle. I think the title is a little mis-leading as the book has very little to do with the knitting club and more to do with the love triangle of Beau-Flynn-Jesse.

Every character was a cliched stereotype--the good ol' boy sheriff with too much power, the good girl with a secret wild side, the bad boy wrongly accused. It was like a bad "Lifetime Original Movie". (And really aren't all Lifetime Original Movies bad??) I didn't feel like any of the characters were all that like-able.

Predictable and poorly written.

Fluffy, cute, predictable. Am I glad I read it? Yup. I love to knit and any story that appeals to my romantic side and my love for knitting, is okay with me. Plus there is one scene in there that had my heart beating a little wildly and I couldn't put it down. This is definitely entertainment reading, and it definitely entertained me!
Anna
I'm going to give this a solid.... 3.75 stars. I didn't hate the female protagonist (although, she had some questionable moments) and the male protagonist wasn't hateful or too perfect. I really wanted the ending to be less obvious, but on the whole, it was a nice, quick read that required little thought. (Just what the doctor ordered).
Mary
Cute story about how a woman learns to find herself and do things for herself. A man learns to allow someone to love him and another man learns to admit the truth of his bad behavior for 10 years. I didn't really like the story was a major love story with very erotic love scenes and I tended to skip them.

Here's my big question after reading this book...so, did she have sex in the ten years he was gone or what???

Yup. That's most of what I got out of this tug your heartstrings, wanna tear your hair out towards the end in frustration, cliched little book.

I met this author at a book convention and really liked her. That's why it pains me to give this book a (relatively) bad review. It just didn't do it for me. I'm sure for others who enjoy the genre it's probably great. For me, not so much...

I've been reading this series out of order, but it doesn't matter. I like the crazy people of Twilight, Texas. Though this book is not my favorite of the series, it is still a great story and now I understand some things that I've read in the other books.

Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later dis...more
