Holy crap! I'm hoping I don't dream tonight...but if I do, I just hope this book doesn't influence my dreams or they'll be some doozy of a nightmare. "Blood Sins" is Kay Hooper's second in her 'Blood' trilogy and her 11th starring the 'Bishop/Special Crimes Unit'. This unit is a special FBI unit composed of agents with 'special' abilities--mediums, seers, telepaths, etc. They operate as quietly as possible when crimes seem to have some unusual aspects. I've got all of this series More...

Sheriff Sawyer knows in his gut that Reverend Samuel and his Church of the Eternal Sin is responsible for the deaths of the women who have washed up in his territory but he is completely stymied trying to prove it. Bishop and the SCU also know that Samuel is responsible and this time, they are going to prove it. Bishop has sent Haven operative Tessa Grey to infiltrate the compound. She doesn't read as psychic so she can move undetected. However, she detects Sheriff Sawyer and explains that he is More...

I am a huge fan of Kay Hooper's, The Bishop Trilogies. Blood Sins is the second in the fourth set of trilogy books that she's written and it was awesome! As usual, Kay Hooper grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat till the very last page! For those not familiar with these trilogies it is centered around FBI agent Noah Bishop and his Special Crimes Unit. The agents working in this unit all have special abilities whether it be mediums, precogs, abilities to heal More...

Sometimes it takes a little while for the fact that a book is terribly written to make itself clear. Other times, the very first page gives you dialogue such as the following:

"And the monster who pulled his strings? The cold, calculating mind behind him?"
"We never saw him," Bishop answered. "Even though we believe he was close enough to watch. Close enough to affect some of us. Close enough to hunt and capture the... prey... for his pet killer."

Blood Sins is the 11th book about Bishop's Special Crimes Unit and the second book in the Blood-trilogy. I haven't read ANY of Kay Hooper's earlier books, so was somewhat anxious to see how utterly lost I would be, by jumping straight into the middle of the action, so to speak.

Fortunately, not much. Granted, there were naturally references I didn't get and background stories I had to guess at, but mostly the important elements were well described, and I had no problems following the More...

This is the second book in the "Blood Trilogy" series by Kay Hooper. It like the "Evil Trilogy" before it, showcase repeat character from the FBI's "Special Crimes Unit" and it's sister, civilian organization, Haven. I don't know if I'm just getting tapped out on the paranormal stuff or if these subsequent trilogies (The Shadow Trilogy being the first and focuses primarily on Bishop) just aren't as good. I really don't know which it is, but I struggled with gettin More...

Do you think you know what evil is? Do you think you could recognize it? Fight it? Resist it? What if you were dealing with a monster that took evil to a completely new level – and looked perfectly normal while doing it?!!?
In the second installment of the “Blood” trilogy, Tessa Gray enters the compound of the Church of the Everlasting Sin, in search of the evil (that the SCU has encountered before) that is leeching the life out of Grace and its’ people. Tessa is a member of Haven, the civ More...

Blood Sins is a continuation of Kay Hooper's book series about a paranormal investigative society led by an agent named Bishop. Hooper works in trilogies, and Blood Sins is the second in her Blood trilogy, but all of her books are easy enough to pick up without having to worry about reading them in any order. Yet for a book series centering on Bishop, he's lacking a lot of characterization or personality to give him any kind of precedence over the other characters.

In fact, all of Hoo More...

This is the second in Hooper's newest trilogy, and as usual, a FANTASTIC read!

From back cover:

"Young, vulnerable, attractive, Tessa Gray made the perfect victim. Which was why Noah Bishop of the FBI's Special Crimes Unit recruited her to play the role of grieving widow. As the supposed new owner of property coveted by the Church of the Everlasting Sin, she'd be irresistible bait for the charismatic Reverend Samuel. His fortified compound in the mountains near Grace, More...

Part of the Bishop/Special Crimes Unit sequences this is the story of a creepy religious leader and his cowed flock. Bishop suspects there's more under the cover and has a large team employed to investigate. However will they survive the plans this man has and can they stop him before it's all too late. Meanwhile some of Bishop's enemies are trying to ensure that he doesn't succeed.

It's interesting, part of a sequence and you need to know what's going on here. I think I've missed one o More...

A good story/plot of a serial killer in a cult type setting. However, for a triology book, I found it a little confusing in the beginning with all new characters with the exception of 2 from the 1st book that came in much later then I would have expected. Then about 3/4 through the book a couple more came in from the 1st book. I did like the whole "church/cultish" type setting. I did find it a little weird again that suddenly everyone involved was "gifted." I'll continue More...

Psychics, visions and loads of paranormal energy! This one is a doozy from Kay Hooper's collection. She tops it off with a great etching of her characters. Tessa and Sawyer are the mainstays of this roller coaster ride while Noah Bishop provides the connections to the case wherever needed.

Samuel's secrets of his past are the crackling moments in the story.

Read on only if you love the mysterious. I just can't wait to get my hands on another of Bishop's novels. In this one, Kay Hooper definitely More...

This is probably going to be the worst review I EVER do for Kay Hooper. It's not that she didn't deliver yet another great book. It's because I love her books sooooo much that I bought the first one in the series, Blood Dreams, and read it as soon as it came out.

Reading that book was like watching the season finale of your favorite TV show to have it 'To Be Continued...' at the end. It was vaguely unsatisfying and not complete. Then since I didn't know if the second book in the tr More...

As always, Kay Hooper delivers. This was read in one sitting. I could not put this down. As always, Kay Hooper leaves you with a question at the end and a sincere desire for the next book to come quickly. And of course new characters have been introduced that will be featured in future books. Kay Hooper has a way with her writing that makes a reader become attached to her characters that are only just being introduced. For example, I can't wait to find out more about Ruby, Cody, and of course Sa More...

I haven't read a book by Kay Hooper in a while. I just raced through this one. I love the Special Crimes Unit people with all their unique skills. The story was very intriguing. The head of a cult was taking his strength for his paranormal skills from people, mostly girls and women. Kay Hooper has an amazing imagination to come up with this. I also like that it is a series which I have read most of. I just put the new one on hold at the library (Blood Ties).

This is the latest in Hooper's series about psychic FBI agents. This time they've infiltrated a cult compound and finally caught the mastermind behind a monster serial killer from her previous book. Tessa, a member of the private counterpart to the FBI's SCU, is sent in to be "brought into the fold" and discovers with the help of a young cult member and those around her that Father is a psychic vampire, who is slowly sucking the souls of his flock. When he gets hungry, watch out!

I always want to like Kay Hooper's books better than I actually do. The concept is good, the characters are likeable enough...but she expects readers to remember too much from her other novels. The characters aren't strong enough to stick in your head from book to book, but I really want them to be. I'll probably keep reading her books, but will probably also always be left thinking they could have been better.

I really enjoy Kay Hooper's psychic suspense novels, and I enjoyed this one, too, but there were several things that bothered me. First, the bad guy's memories of child abuse were a little too graphic. Second, The bad guy (Samuel) and the good guy (Sawyer) had names too similar. It made POV transitions momentarily confusing. Thirdly, the showdown with the powerful enemy wrapped up so quickly that it felt anti-climactic.

I think I may have read another book from this series. It seems to somewhat follow in the footsteps of Jayne Ann Krentz and "Arcane" series she has. They both deal with the psychic realm.

Ms. Hooper deals more on the investigatory/police procedure side.

This book was excellent except it did not answer what the Reverend had planned for his believers to save them from Armageddon.

By far my favorite of all the kay hooper books thus far. I liked how it included many characters of the whole series. I hope she continues to use multiple people, while some might think it was bit harder to follow cause of so many past people i just think it made it that much more better. Would read again, and recommend it!

I am frelling addicted to these books. They are total brain-candy, therefore a pretty fast read. They focus on the "Special Crimes Unit" of the FBI which is composed of psychics, mediums, empaths, etc. She does trilogies that follow a common theme or bad guy, but you really don't need to read them in any particular order.

Like the previous book in the trilogy from the Bishop/SCU series, Blood Sins really seems to fall short of the high bar set earlier trilogies. There seemed to be a lot of pointless filler and it was difficult to connect with the characters. While not terrible, this is definitely not one of my favorites.

Ok so I've spent the last two weekends hunting down every book in this series. I admit it. The Blood trilogy is the fourth set of the the Bishop books, but I don't think I'm in the dark about who and what Bishop & co are. I can't wait to finish the final book of this trilogy and start another set.

I have long been a fan of Kay Hooper and Bishops Special Unit. However this one is too far into the paranormal for me. while I did read to the end just to find out how she would end this totally farout story, I don't think I will read the other books in this trilogy. Just not for me.

I really love this whole series, so this was just another really great story! Drags a little, but I really like the idea of some people using more than 10% of their brains and the havoc it causes (death, destruction, mayhem). Good random fiction to just let your mind wander and enjoy!

A psychic serial killer is on the loose and psychic FBI agents are trying to prove that Samuel, a religious cult leader, is the culprit. This book has lots of ESP elements - clairvoyants, telepathics, psychics - to name a few.

Not as good as the first book but worth reading for the spectacular ending. This is listed as a trilogy but Blood Sins ended like it was the conclusion so I'm not sure where a third book would be coming from.

I didn't know this book was part of a series when I listened to it, but some parts make a lot more sense now. :)

I listened to it while running, and it was entertaining enough to keep my mind distracted. Not my usual fare, but interesting nonetheless.

I love the Bishop stories! Of course, this one leaves you hanging at the end for the third book in the series. It makes many references to the first book, which oddly, I could not remember much of. I guess I need to go back and re-read it. Oh darn!

It is pretty bloody and violent in spots, but I find this series fascinating. Does have some paranormal elements to it, just in case anyone reading this review has a dislike for that element. Kay Hooper's a marvelous author with great plots/story.

A Bishop/Special Crimes Unit Novel that delivers once again with this chilling novel in which the Special Crimes Unit sends a Haven operative undercover to catch a killer who promises his victims heaven in exchange for their lives. Well told.
