the book is just what it pertains to be, a very rough sketchbook. It sets out a brief, and a bit hurried, bio-sketch for the reformers at hand. However, it was helpful in that it placed the reformers within their political and social context. It also showed the role of the princes and political authorities in the magisterial reformation, (the magistrates.)

The author gives a good summary of the importance of the political role within the various Reformations as follows, "...however much we might
