This book is not something I would have normally picked up, but I quite enjoyed it! It had a great romantic plot (which is what I am all about) and the mystery plot was entertaining enough.

In this latest episode, plus-sized reporter Kate Gallagher is struggling with an upcoming assignment that'll have her In a bikini as well as looking into the suspicious death of her friend Jana. Her personal ties to the case make this even more fraught with tension. Meanwhile, her policeman boyfriend Jonathan...more

TV journalist Kate Gallagher is, as always, dealing with her weight, her love life, and threats to her career. But all pale into insignificance when her friend Jana is killed in a carjacking, and Jana's daughter Shaina is injured. Shaina and Kate are sure that Jana's about-to-be-dumped husband is responsible, but the police say he has a good alibi. Too bad Kate's policeman-boyfriend is off tending to his sick mother, because she's lost one of her sources of information. Then Kate discovers that...more

Ehhh... I like that these books are not cutesy. They are really more about an investigative reporter who happens to be overweight, than about an overweight woman who happens to stumble onto dead bodies.

I really liked book 2 of this series, but I didn't like book 1 at all, and book 3 was pretty flat. Apparently each book in the series has a new prince charming boy friend, with the prince charming from the previous book suddenly becoming a toad in the next book. That's annoying.

I enjoyed the local setting of this mystery. The story was pretty good, though the book ended with some loose ends. It made me wonder if they'd be resolved in the next book, but so far, the plots of all three books in this series have been self contained.

Light and fluffy. This is the third in a series and I liked the first two books more than I liked this one. I thought the ending of this was abrupt and far-fetched. Kate has an amazing number of men who are romantically interested in her.

This was a pretty good book despite the fact it leaves the reader hanging with loose ends such as the role and whereabouts of Jana's husband nad what of her daughter who was going to go back to durham.

Fun read, better than the last one. There is a lot about body image in this one and I could relate. That may explain why I liked it more.
Angela
This is such a fun and funny series with a heroine who is truly lovable. i look forward to the next one.

Finished in an hour or so. Not a lot of substance. Very predictable.

Light murder mystery with a side of plus sized romance.

This was another good read in the Fat City Mystery series. The mystery was okay although I thought that the ending was a bit rushed and maybe a little over the top.

Not really liking where the author is taking Kate's love life but I get the feeling that we have not seen the end of Kate and Jonathan.

I finished this book in 3 hours. Quick and easy read.

I do have to say that Kate Gallager is a little promiscious...

The storyline was not as developed as her other two books, but I still enjoyed.
Lori
I really love this character. I could easily be very good friends with her.
Robin Kaplan
It was fun reading. I really enjoy the juxtaposition of reading a mystery with factual beauty tips or recipes mixed in!!

Won as a giveaway.Quick fun read. Felt that the entire story came out at the very end, very quickly. But overall, enjoyable.

This was my least favorite. I don't like the direction this is going in. Hopefully, there are more to come though.

As a pre-teen, I had two passions: Nancy Drew mysteries and Pralines ’n Cream ice cream. So it was perhaps inevitable that I grew up to write a series called the Fat City Mysteries.

My stories are set in Durham, North Carolina, the self-proclaimed “Diet Capital of the World.” And like my journalist sleuth, Kate Gallagher, I understand the Battle of the Bulge all too well. I once lost 90 pounds to l...more
