Stray Cat Strut Shelley Munro "Middlemarch Mates" I met a male lion shifter in the pub last night. Not that my father would approve since it reinforces my gay status, but Lucas is incredible. Tall. Golden. Sexy. Our gazes met and we clicked. The evening turned into night. The sex was hot. Intense. Real magic that doesn't happen every day. Hell, it electrified me. By the ti ...more

I was kind of expecting something a little bit ... more. The relationship was flimsy, the sex scenes were only 'okay.' What really bothered me [probably irrationally:] was that the prime character constantly referred to the fact that they were physically about the same size. Um ... sorry. A lion shifter would be [or SHOULD be:] a lot larger than a black panther shifter. The fact that they were constantly matched in size/nature just rankled. Lions are nothing like panthers, and their differences ...more

While this is part of a series, I really enjoyed it as a stand-alone read. The story of two lonely shifters, one panther and one lion, touched me because both manage to overcome their initial tendency to stand back and expect the worst from their fellow beings.

The set of characters around them also sounded interesting, so I might return to Middlemarch for another read.

Great series - enjoy how all come together - it shows that people can be loving and supportive of each other. I enjoyed how things worked out in the end.

Shelley lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband and a rambunctious puppy.

Typical New Zealanders, Shelley and her husband left home for their big OE soon after they married (translation of New Zealand speak - big overseas experience). A year long adventure lengthened to six years of roaming the world. Enduring memories include being almost sat on by a mountain gorilla in Rwanda, lazing on
