The heroine was too weak, stupid, and foolish for me. There is a lot of explicit/erotic sex, but I wasn’t emotionally drawn in.

STORY BRIEF:
Kendra and Gerald are step siblings whose parents have died. Kendra’s father was a wealthy judge who died in a car accident eleven months ago. Kendra was with him at the time and survived with scars on her face and body. Shortly after that, her boyfriend Michael broke up with her, saying it was due to her looks. She drank too much, had ...more

Ever wish you could conjure your own personal genie from a bottle to grant a few wishes or change the course of your life? In the case of Kendra Carter, it is a demon and she doesn’t summon him from a bottle, she calls him up from 514-year-old grimoire called the Delomelanicon. The difference in Kendra’s case, is that she summons her demon unconsciously and without understanding of the book’s power.

Devyn Quinn has the ability to develop characters for her stories that are deeply “wou...more

This was a strange one! I can't decide how to rate it. It reminded me of an old Janet Louise Roberts book Devil's Own. The JLR book was very gothic in nature and this book had that same feel, but I don't know after finishing it if I really liked it or really disliked it....as I said, a strange one.
This was my first book by Devyn Quinn so I don't know if this is representative of her style or not. Will have to try another to find out.

This is a book that I found disturbing, not because I didn't enjoy the book or the concept in the book, but because I could feel for Kendra as she moved through the conflict in the book. If I had been in the same situation, I would feel I was going crazy too.

I did like the ending, though I had thought there would be details on the "sacrifice" Kendra made. I do like the ending, but (as with most good books) wish there had been more.

All-in-all, I enjoyed the book, b...more

Warning: Explicit Content
I won this book in a contest from the author and found it combined both a paranormal romance with a page turning thriller built in. I always worry when I read an erotic book that the story takes a backseat to the sex part, but not in this story. The characters are well developed and the sex actually plays a role in their story. I could not put this down, especially at the end. This was an easy book to read in one sitting.

I figured I would love this book since it is right up my alley of books I normally read.

But, Kendra, the main character, bugged the crap out of me. I thought she was flighty and I guess that could be normal for a 23 year old, but she still drove me crazy.

While there is a happy ending, I prefer a little more clarification, and less guessing on the part of the reader.

I honestly thought about not finishing the book because I was annoyed with Kendra, but I ...more

I am not quite sure why I kept reading this one. Kendra was TSTL for most of the book. You could tell very early what was going on with her brother and then when Remi popped up, you just knew how that was going to end as well. I was just glad that the book was a fast read.

Devyn Quinn lives in the scenic Southwest, though she has called several other states home. She is a huge fan of dark gothic music & shoot-’em-up action movies. But reading is her first love and Devyn spends too much time with history books, as well as feeding her addiction for celebrity biographies. She especially enjoys reading books on Hollywood before the 1960′s and is crazy about Marilyn Monr...more
