This book wasn't quite as engaging as the Egypt companion book, but it was still full of fascinating stuff on medieval times. Plus, it was the best kids book on the subject I've seen. The facts are well-researched, well-organized and thoroughly explained with pictures. Best of all, it encourages kids to find out more on their own giving book recommendations, and recommendations for videos, websites, and more. I still plan on reading many more of these companion books with my kids.

This book is fillied with interesting facts about the Middle Ages, focusing on Castles, the lords and ladies who lived within them, and the knights who protected them. It also discussed the reasons behind the designs of castles, how they evolved and why people stopped building them. We enjoy these research guides. They provide a lot of good information, with a lot of pictures to help explain and just the right amount of narrative to hold a child's (and an adult's) attention.

I love these Magic Tree House Research Guides! My seven-year-old son is reading them to me. These nonfiction books are a great introduction to history for elementary grade students. They are the perfect reading level for my son, and are really getting him interested in history. He even wants to go to a museum now, so that he can see some of the artifacts he's been reading about! Who would have thought it?

I read these books all the time when I was little! I love them as much as I did back then, even if the stories aren't at my level.

This series is still a little above my daughter's first grade reading level, but they are a good challenge for her and help to improve her vocabulary. We love the stories; they are enjoyable and imaginative. Real facts are included into the stories, making them educational as well.
