I really like Osho's simple, conversational-style delivery, though he tends to talk in circles and repeat himself a lot.

He claims that depression is, for the most part, an epidemic in the Western world because of an insatiable drive to acquire more money. The more money we have, the more empty we feel thus perpetuating the depression spiral. He goes on to say that Easterner's tend to have less and be happy with that. In essence, when you have nothing, you can't be disappointed. I see this as a

Shelves:
Emotional Wellness is full of stereotypes and sweeping generalizations. If you can get past these annoyances, there are some helpful nuggets scattered here and there. On page 140 something so far. Not sure why I'm reading this.

For every good thought Osho's disciples incorporated into this book they included a load of absolute nonsense.
There are things that could benefit many people but surely they must be available without the pseudo-science and outright untruths in this work.
For example;
1.) Gravity is what causes aging and death, according to Osho, not those free radicals and cell degeneration, etc. etc., oh no, it's the gravity.

2.) According to Osho, man is the only creature that kills its own kind. A patently fals

this guy is either a certified lunatic or a very very wise man... problem is you'll only find out if you take his advice. still, i'd put osho down as an essential read because every horizon needs expansion and there is nothing more true than that thinking has f---ed too many minds not to mention lives.

Not preaching Buddhism? More like preaching Buddhism plus free love. Interesting ideas though.

This is another great book by one of the best spiritual gurus. The part I loved is how at the end he explained the abc behavior model, the way he broke it down you could find the root of your behavior problem by looking at what target it, and its actually a good way to find the inner self.

ABC Model:It is based upon the principle that all behavior follows a set of consistent rules, and that methods can be developed for defining, observing, and measuring behaviors, and for designing effective inte

Amazed to the core. Every single sentence helps me to understand the emotional drama happening inside and around me.

I like Osho. He rambles and speaks (writes) in a sometimes too circular and conversational style (this book IS a series of answers to specific questions). But, by keeping course in the ebb and flow, the reader can here and there find nuggets of wisdom that are sharp and crystalline - and which resonate & sparkle for days on end. Outside of his otherwise known infamy, I can tell by reading this book why he is such a controversial figure.

If you dare practice what this book says, you will change your view of living...Although I cannot know how willing someone is to do so, I can only promise you that at least it's worth reading it.Of course you must be prepared for it...Just reading it and not understanding what it is trying to tell you deeply in your heart, will only result in disliking the author for the "creepy and crazy" things he says.Highly recommended.

The prose was hard to follow at times, I found that it was easier to comprehend read aloud. I almost put it down but stuck with it and it got easier.

The practices however I thought were interesting and helpful.

Not a place to start on the philosophy/ self-help shelf....

Osho doesn't tell you to suppress your emotions as do other spiritual teachers. His approach is refreshing.

One of the most provocative and inspiring spiritual teachers of the twentieth century, Osho defies categorization - reflecting everything from the individual quest for meaning to the most urgent social and political issues facing society today. His books are not written but are transcribed from recordings of extemporaneous talks given over a period of thirty-five years. Osho has been described by ...more

“Gibran says: Once I asked such a scarecrow, “I can understand the farmer who made you—he needs you. I can understand the poor animals—they don’t have great intelligence to see that you are bogus. But in the rain, in the sun, in the hot summer, in the cold winter, you remain standing here: for what?” And the scarecrow said, “You don’t know my joy. Just to make those animals afraid is such a joy that it is worth suffering rain, suffering sun, suffering heat, winter, everything. I am making thousands of animals afraid! I know I am bogus, there is nothing inside me, but I don’t care about that. My joy is in making others afraid.” I want to ask you: Would you like to be just like this bogus man—nothing inside, making somebody afraid, making somebody happy, making somebody humiliated, making somebody respectful? Is your life only for others? Will you ever look inside?” 1 likes
