I loved Goosebumps as a kid, along with every other child my age. There was always a Goosebumps laying within arm's reach of me, even if it had to be hidden in my backpack. I was a member of the R.L. Stine fan club and got an autographed picture (which was banished to the back of my bookcase because Mr. Stine's gaze kind of freaked me out) and a t-shirt, which I proudly wore to meet Darth Vader with my dad and kid brother:

And, of course, as I got older, my fascination with them faded away. I sol

I love goosebumps when I was a kid and this was one of my favorites.
'Say Cheese and Die!' was the fourth book in the Goosebumps awesome book series.

The story starts with Greg finding an old camera at a spooky house owned by Mr. Spidey (a strange old-man with spider-like appearance). Greg's very amuse with the idea of having a camera so he began by taking a picture of his friend Michael who is leaning on the stair railing. Suddenly, the railing gives way and Michael falls. 5 Words: Nasty, selfish, thieving little shits.

I think I've made my thoughts on Goosebumps quite clear... No thank you.4

That's two books in a row filled with the most obnoxious children in the world. I'm gonna try a third one in case it's just a fluke and I happen to have picked up the wrong ones, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

These books are fine for a certain kind of kid, but even when I was young I was rolling my eyes and not impressed by breaking and entering and burglary.

Some people think that a picture will steal your soul.

Greg's always been interested in photography, but he only owns a point-and-click that doesn't take very good pictures.

Greg, Bird, Shari, and Michael live in a really boring town called Pitts Landing. One day, for fun, they decide to break into the old Coffman house. It's been abandoned for as long as they remember.

There's a homeless guy, Spidey, who dresses all in black and runs around the neighborhood. He's very old and very thin. He reminds

Recommends it for: kids who like scary stories
These books were a lot better when I was a kid. I don't think I necessarily found them scary, even back then. Well, okay, the one with the dummy freaked me right the fuck out. But other than that, they weren't particularly frightening. Are You Afraid of the Dark? was scarier. Man, I miss that show. But I digress. What the Goosebumps books were, however, was fun, and though I was obviously less discerning about quality in my younger days, they're still fun for me as a grown-up, for the sake of no ...more

I'm a traditional film photography enthusiast, so this book really appealed to me. I mean, a group of teens who find an old camera that can cause bad events in the future? Seems really cool... but it just ended up being unoriginal, choppy and full of generic, boring characters. A lot of Nineties YA series unfortunately ended up with choppy, descriptiveness writing (The Secret World of Alex Mack, Bone Chillers, etc.) and Goosebumps novels are no exception. Thank god more detailed and intelligent ...more

While wondering what to do on a boring summer day, three friends Greg, Doug and Shari decide to investigate the house of a old wicked man nicknamed "Spidey". He is nicknamed like that because he looks a lot like a spider. While searching the home, Greg discovers a strange camera. He calls his friend Doug and Doug tells him to take a picture of him. Reader beware you're in for a scare!

I'm gonna read like it's 1994! I was 6 when I first started these books, borrowed 'Night Of The Living Dummy' from one of my friends and I was hooked from there. I read them all through the 90's and loved them. I only stopped when the 'Goosebumps 2000' series came out but I'm not sure if that's because they were rubbish or I was just getting older and had started to lose interest.

This is an improvement on the first book but I'd still say it's just for old

I like the flow of this story and I can't wait to read the next part of this. The story of this appeals to me more than the last one I've read. It's just creepy how the story about the camera evolves. How evil it is. It's just I wanted to know more about the story of Spidey and how he is related to the camera.

This may be the worst Goosebumps book. And that's coming from someone who thought Monster Blood aka Evil Flubber was the worst book. There are just so many things that are wrong with this book I don't even know where to begin.

First off, if a camera is causing bad things to happen, WHY WOULD YOU KEEP THE CAMERA? It's obviously evil, and it seriously injures people, so why would you continue to take pictures with it? Oh, right. It's because they are 12-year-old idiots who have no common sense wha

Say Cheese and Die is certainly creepy, but it suffers from some weak writing choices. In this story, Greg and his friends find a mysterious camera hidden in an abandoned home. Greg figures out pretty quickly that the camera takes photos of horrible future events, but the rest of his friends refuse to believe him and want to use the camera at a party. When one of their closest friends disappears after her photo is taken, Greg tries to take the camera back to its hiding place. There he is cornere ...more

Greg thinks there is something wrong with the camera that him and his friends found. The photographs keep coming out wrong. Really wrong. Like a snap that he took of his dad's new car and it developed that the car was totalled. Then a couple days later the car gets wrecked.
But Greg's friends don't believe him even Shari makes Greg bring the camera with him to her birthday party and when the picture developed Shari didn't come out in the picture. Is Shari not part of the picture now? That old ev

Quick and fun read. Picked this up at a mall bookstore with my friend the other day with another Goosebumps book because these (Goosebumps) were the first books I ever read.

I will be copy-pasting this for every Goosebumps novel I'll be reading.

On a whim, I decided to read all of the Goosebumps books. Some of them I've read before but, for the most part, I haven't. I won't be giving any stars; this doesn't mean anything about my actual opinion for the books, it only means that I don't think I can realistically, objectively rank 62 books which are not even meant for my age. I did enjoy the ones I read as a child and I am enjoying the ones I'm reading now, so that's

I guess this is where Final Destination creators got their inspiration from. A camera that shows you what will happen...or should I say causes things to happen. The book starts off pretty slow, which kind of killed my interest, but after forcing myself to read more it got better. I do not like books that start off with multiple characters. With my ADD its hard to remember who is who. I could do with less characters.

Anywho, something that made me go "huh?" was the part of playing truth or dare.

A group of friends discover a secret room in the basement with a camera. This camera is not an ordinary camera but a strange camera. It traps one into the camera once you point it at someone and take a picture. One of the kids took the camera with him and several classmates though it was a regular camera and went around taking pictures. I felt like this is a crazy story but it was interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick and easy read but at the same time wants an ac ...more

Every picture tells a story.

I enjoyed the "scariness" in this installment much more than the previous three books. The creep factor came into play a lot sooner in this book. I didn't need to wait until almost halfway through the tale for the horror element to start unfolding.

It's still very cheesy (ha ha, get it, cheesy?), but it was still enjoyable and nostalgic! Three and a half pictures out of five.

This was so much fun.

Initial Thoughts:
1. I loved our cast of characters
2. The pacing was well done and concept was really interesting
3. I can see why people might not like these books because r.l. stine's books can be very formulaic
