This was an interesting read, especially since, as a teen fantasy, it skipped over one of the biggest issues in much of the material I have seen written for that genre - sex and love interests. There is very little social interaction between the central character, Anaid, and other children, although when her mother first disappears and she is forced to stay with a neighbor, the children there do react to her, as do the children at her school.

Volto a falar disso, porque quando peguei neste livro, ele tinha uma frase do estilo "O novo Harry Potter" impressa na capa. Obviamente que a Editorial Presença não manda no Financial Times, nem decide o que os críticos devem ou não dizer mas, aviso que quem for no entanto atrás de um mundo mágico do estilo Potteriano vai ficar desapontado. Não vale a pena perderem o vosso tempo com este livro. No entanto, se procurarem um mundo com magia e com uma visão mais wiccana da mesma, façam o favor de lhe pegar, este é um bom livro para isso.
Com uma visão mais tradicional da magia, dos covens e da idade de transição de "menina para mulher". O Clã da Loba é certamente uma alternativa mais fiel à ideia de bruxas tradicionais (pelo menos à ideia que eu tenho) e que surpreende pela história da origem das bruxas e pelo amor ao feminino.
Esta é uma história de magia, profecia e misticismo onde os homens não tem lugar. A magia é das mulheres, sempre lhes pertenceu e continuará a pertencer. Creio que, e devido à história da origem da magia do inicio, aparecerão alguns feiticeiros mas por enquanto nem vê-los.
Apesar de Anaíd ser um pouco chata como personagem ao início temos de nos lembrar que ela apenas tem catorze anos e que a sua mãe desapareceu do nada. Creio que há medida que cresço que vou tendo um pouco menos de paciência para personagens mais novas e tenho de me re-lembrar que já fui adolescente e que eu também já tive medos e incertas (E a quem minto? Ainda tenho!) e que estas são coisas normais da idade e portanto normais em personagens com esta idade. O caso de Anaíd foi mais complicado porque, maior parte do tempo, ela parece ser mais velha do que aquilo que é e por isso quando uma "birra" surge é sempre um pouco inesperada.
De resto, as personagens que acompanham Anaíd são variadas e temos umas mais divertidas e outras mais misteriosas que contribuem à sua maneira para a criação deste mundo mágico, onde vários clãs de bruxas habitam e esperam a realização de uma profecia que irá decidir se serão as Omar ou as Odish a sobreviverem no nosso mundo.
Quanto a termos da trama em si não foi sempre original mas foi bem desenvolvida com uma ou outra reviravolta curiosa mas, infelizmente, a grande reviravolta não foi de todo inesperada o que também me chateou a meio da leitura, pois a determinada altura já me questionava quando é que finalmente todas as personagens se aperceberiam do mesmo que eu.
No entanto como este é um género que leio muito pode ter sido completamente óbvio para mim mas não tanto para outros leitores. Mesmo assim achei que a história tinha a sua graça e fiquei com um mínimo de curiosidade para acabar a trilogia. Este é um livro que na minha opinião leva umas sólidas 3,5 estrelas.(less)

Autorka nám v této sérii představuje tak trochu jiný druh čarodějek, než který můžeme znát. Setkáme se hned, dalo by se říct, se dvěma druhy. Jedny jsou ty zlé, druhé hodné. Nepředstavujme si ale ty zlé jako ježibaby s bradavicí na nose. Odiš se ze všeho nejvíc snaží udržet svojí krásu a bohatství. To proto jsou ty zlé, využívají svých schopností jen pro vlastní blaho, to nikdy nevěstí nic moc dobrého. Svou krásu a mladost získávají velmi ohavným způsobem. Naproti tomu čarodějky z rodu Omar jsou ty dobré, které se dokáží sžít s přírodou a nevyužívají svojí moc pro své vlastní sobecké důvody, to by se rovnou mohli přidat k zlomyslným Odiš.
Vznik těchto dvou "ras" je doprovázen velmi složitou a na první přečtení možná i nepochopitelnou historií. Jisté je ovšem jedno, chystá se příchod vyvolené, která bude mít tu možnost zničit jedno z těchto odvětví, proto si oba klany chtějí udržet vyvolenou na své straně. Jenže vlastně záleží na tom, kdo je ta pravá vyvolená a ke které straně se nakonec přikloní.
Anaid se toho musí za velmi krátkou chvíli naučit až přespříliš, ale na můj vkus se s tím vším vypořádala až moc rychle, kdo ví, jaké vlohy se v té malé dívce vlastně skrývají. I když je možná na škodu, že z ní autorka udělala takové ošklivé káčátko, které si není jisté samo sebou a neustále se trápí tím, jak vlastně vypadá, a že se jí ostatní spolužáci posmívají. Jisté ovšem je, že v ní a její kouzelné hůlce se skrývají netušené možnosti. Anaid jsem si nijak neoblíbila, přišla mi až moc vrhající se do akce a že všemu náhle strašně moc rozumí, přitom se toho má ještě hodně co učit a to se pravděpodobně nedá zvládnout za pár měsíců, ale ona asi bude zázračné dítě, které se učí rychle. Někomu to může přijít až příliš rychlé.
Nejzáhadnější na tom však je, že se má jednat o "válku čarodějek", přitom bych mohla říct, že se to všechno vyřešilo nějak rychle. Došlo na pár momentů, kdy se člověk o Omar strachoval, ale tato kniha pravděpodobně patří k těm, kdy to jde hlavním hrdinům až příliš snadno a vyhrávají každou bitvu, která je potká bez sebemenších škrábanců, ať už na těle, či na duši.

Z knihy mám i několik dní po dočtení stále takové rozporuplné pocity a pořádně ani nevím, jak jí ohodnotit. Pohled na čarodějky je zde rozhodně velmi zajímavý a zase pojatý trochu jinak, než je v jiných knihách (i když jsem jich moc nečetla). Víte, hůlky bych přiradila spíše k takovým knihám, jako je Harry Potter, tam se to prostě hodí, ale v této knize mi to přišlo takové nepatřičné. Ale darovanému koni na zuby nehleď.
Knize ale nemůžu upřít to, že mě docela nutila otáčet stránky a byla jsem na to všechno dobrodružství opravdu hodně natěšená, takže se mi četla celkem s lehkostí (opomenu-li kapitolu o vzniku Odiš a Omar, ta byla opravdu matoucí). Určitě bych tam mohla najít pasáže, kdy jsem se tak trochu nudila a šla jsem si raději uzobnout něco k jídlu, ale jiné jsem zase doslova hltala.
Abych pravdu řekla, tak jsem si ani nikdy nedovedla pořádně představit, jak některé postavy vlastně vypadají. Všechno bylo ponecháno mé vlastní fantasii a musela jsem si sama v hlavě vytvářet obrázky. A věřte tomu, že když Anaid myslela na to, že jí vypadávají vlasy, představila jsem si jí tak trochu jako Gluma z Pána prstenů. No opravdu, zamyslete se nad tím, jak může vypadat někdo, kdo celý život pořádně neroste, padají mu vlasy a je prostě tak nějak ošklivý. V tomto ohledu mě docela mrzí, že se autorka více nezabývala postavami, rozhodně by si to některé zasloužily. Když už se nám dostalo nějakého toho popisu, tak byl velmi strohý a nic moc neobjasňoval.
Kniha mi poskytla nový pohled na to, jak vlastně mohou čarodějnice vypadat a s čím vším se musí vypořádat. Abych pravdu řekla, tak se na další díl celkem těším, ale prvnímu jsem se rozhodla, že udělím tři hvězdičky, snad mě další díl nadchne o trochu více.(less)

I actually really enjoyed this...read it on the way to Disneyland (which may have helped my enjoyment...I was in the mood for fun, magic, etc.). I haven't read many books with witches and don't know much of the mythology of it...or if this is closely tie...more

While this is a book about witches, it is also a book about the mother and daughter bond. In this case, Anaid is willing to fight the rival Odish clan to save her mother, Selene, from the evil Omar clan. I liked that they had such a close relationship.
The story starts off slow with quite a bit of detail as Anaid learns to use her powers. It was surprising to learn how powerful she was compared to the more experienced witches. Anaid was able to do things like turn into a dolphin or fly.

Aspettavo da tempo di leggere questa trilogia e devo ammettere che mi sarei aspettata qualcosa in più. La caratteristica di questa storia è l'estrema semplicità con cui accadono gli eventi e con cui si passa da uno scenario all'altro. Non ci sono colpi di scena incisivi, rivelazioni particolari e anche quell'unica rivelazione finale non ha la forza di sconvolgere o comunque di stupire.

Le streghe: personaggi inquietanti per la loro accezione negativa e per i ricordi d'infanzia legati alle paure provocate dalle fiabe o dalle minacce di un genitore portato allo stremo (guarda che arriva la strega a ti porta via!). Embora de início as coisas não sejam muito claras e a proveniência e guerra entre as Omar e as Odish possam fazer alguma confusão, rapidamente esta se desvanece graças à simplicidade da escrita da autora e ao amor quase palpável que dedicou a cada palavra impressa. Anaíd é uma jovem descriminada na escola não apenas por ser feinha e pequena para a idade mas também por ser a melhor aluna da turma. Não sabe o que é ter um amigo, não sabe o que é ser convidada para um aniversário... estas carências do personagem e os sentimentos que daí advém contribuem para que rapidamente nos entre no coração e desperte cumplicidade e ternura no leitor mais empedernido. A esta personagem cabe-lhe também aquela nota de mistério final que nos deixa com água na boca para o que virá a ser o segundo volume da trilogia Guerra das Bruxas, lamento mas não posso adiantar mais sem começar a dedicar-me ao spoiller.
A estória passa-se no presente, no nosso mundo, mas o mundo das bruxas, a sua realidade e a organização da sua sociedade, está bastante bem criado embora haja um ou outro ponto que espero ver clarificado num futuro volume. Num tom sempre muito simples e pejado de carinho, a autora leva-nos a descobrir que as aparências iludem (e muito), que até os que nos são mais próximos podem ser enganados com alguma facilidade; descobrimos que a rejeição marca determinantemente qualquer pessoa, até as que têm poderes paranormais, e que o amor incondicional pode levar-nos não só à alegria máxima mas também ao pico do desespero no qual cometemos as maiores loucuras. Foi uma estória que me proporcionou momentos de grande prazer e que, sem que saiba explicar muito bem como pois há aspectos bastante previsíveis, me deixou agarrada ao livro com vontade de saber qual o passo que se seguiria.
O único ponto "negativo" a apontar é, além da previsibilidade de algumas acções, a tradução que no geral está muito boa mas tem algumas pequenas falhas passíveis de serem detectadas por quem está muito familiarizado com o castelhano. Ainda assim, o leitor não vê a leitura nada comprometida pois não há quebras no ritmo de leitura provocadas por este aspecto.
Recomendo.

I alternately liked and hated this book because the writing was so uneven. Mood and style seemed to change from chapter to chapter.
I suspect that a lot of this was due to a lousy translator. It doesn't matter how fluent you are in 2 language, translating a book so that it reads as beautifully in another language as it did in the original is highly skilled work.

Se há um livro que li até agora neste ano sobre o qual fiquei bastante dividida na minha opinião, foi com certeza este. Em vários aspectos gostei, noutros começava a pensar se deveria levar a leitura em frente. Como era um livro pequeno e até gostei da história base, acabei de o ler, mas fiquei com algumas reservas.

A mitologia das bruxas é muito boa, e gostei bastante do capítulo onde foi contada a história da origem das bruxas e da sua divisão em dois clãs rivais, pois afastou-se da linguagem q...more Se há um livro que li até agora neste ano sobre o qual fiquei bastante dividida na minha opinião, foi com certeza este. Em vários aspectos gostei, noutros começava a pensar se deveria levar a leitura em frente. Como era um livro pequeno e até gostei da história base, acabei de o ler, mas fiquei com algumas reservas.

A mitologia das bruxas é muito boa, e gostei bastante do capítulo onde foi contada a história da origem das bruxas e da sua divisão em dois clãs rivais, pois afastou-se da linguagem que a autora usou no resto do livro, tendo escrito este excerto com uma voz mais "histórica". Já no resto do livro a escrita utilizada causou-me alguma estranheza, mas fiquei sem perceber se foi mesmo problema meu com a forma de escrever da autora, ou se foi um problema de má (ou melhor, péssima) tradução. Qualquer pessoa diz que sabe falar espanhol, mas a verdade é que dependendo da zona de Espanha há muita coisa que muda, e pode ter havido um grande descuido no processo de tradução (e já se sabe que hoje em dia quem anda a formar-se para aprender a traduzir, na maioria dos casos nem o português sabe em condições).

Quanto à história em si, a parte mais interessante era previsível desde o início, embora tivesse um aspecto envolvido do qual eu não estava à espera. Mesmo assim, é um pouco frustrante estar a ler um livro quando já se está a prever o que vai acontecer no fim, e este foi um dos quais em que isso me aconteceu. Mas mesmo com essa parte previsível, houve bastantes aspectos interessantes no que se relaciona com a sociedade das bruxas e a diferença de valores entre os dois clãs. Por isso mesmo prevendo o que ia acontecer, essa curiosidade de saber mais sobre elas levou-me a continuar a ler. Devo ainda dizer que achei que o tema das bruxas foi introduzido na história de forma um pouco "abrupta".

Mas, de todos os pequenos problemas que tive com este livro (que, admito, muitos devem ter sido relacionados com a minha "exigência" enquanto leitora), há um que eu não posso mesmo deixar de referir, porque me deixou perplexa, ao ponto de já o ter referido a várias pessoas com as quais falei sobre este livro, pois não sei mesmo como é que se pode ter deixado um erro daquele género chegar às bancas. Há uma cena no livro em que Anaíd está com uma amiga da mãe ao pé do mar, e surge um "cardume de peixes" (é mesmo assim que surge descrito no livro) a nadar em volta dos seus pés. Eu comecei a imaginar um grupo de pequenos peixes, como é normal, mas no fim do parágrafo surge, para minha admiração, a referência a esses "peixes" como sendo "golfinhos". Sim, aquele animal fofinho e inteligente que embora viva no mar, até uma criança de colo sabe que é um mamífero. Isto fez-me imensa confusão, e levou-me a estar mais inclinada para o facto de a escrita me parecer estranha mesmo por má tradução. Como é que é possível que um tradutor, ou até um revisor, deixe uma coisa destas passar assim?

Fora estes aspectos, até fiquei com uma ideia positiva do livro (embora tenha ficado "alérgica" a livros cuja protagonista é uma criança de 14, 15 anos sobredotada depois de ler "A Sociedade do Sangue"), mas achei que teve um final decente e fiquei sem qualquer tipo de curiosidade em ler o volume seguinte, mesmo depois de ir ler a sinopse. Isto deve-se ao facto de, na minha opinião, não serem deixadas pontas soltas importantes o suficiente neste livro para incitar um leitor a querer continuar a ler.

Mas não vão por mim no caso de o quererem ler, porque, como já disse, fiquei bastante dividida na minha opinião deste livro, e tenho argumentos para defender tanto uma opinião positiva como negativa (sendo o aspecto negativo muito assente na parte linguística que eu, como licenciada em Jornalismo, não consigo deixar de parte). Se o querem ler façam-no, que a história não é má, e até pode ser que a leitura vos corra melhor do que a mim!(less)

I picked up this book at a thrift store. I like the take on witches, good and evil. The story of a not-much-loved child trying to grow up in the shadow of her beautiful mom. She grows and finds out that her mother was good and protecting her for her whole life. She faces adversity, comes into her powers and learns a lot about herself and the world. In the end she overcomes everything she faced and good overcomes evil. Well written and an easy read. I really liked it.

This is uaually not the genre of book that I like to read, but it was for one of my Goodreads childrens' groups. I didn't think the characters or the plot were strong or engaging. Trying to make a modern-day story fit with witches and old folklore, didn't do it for me. Descriptions were weak and I didn't think there was much action. This book was a translation of an author from Spain.

i loved the book, it was great with all the differetn twists and turns. another good bit of the book was how you never expect people to be who they are, like you think them as one person but really they are completly different. The sturcture of the book was good and i enjoyed reading it.

I loved this trilogy so much, I've read it several times in several languages but I never get bored. This is the kind of book I want to keep forever, I want my children to be able to enjoy this amazing story as much as I do now.
