This book was an excellent memoir. It was written by an officer of the Royal Navy who served in the Second World War it recounts his service on sloops and destroyers.
Starting with the British campaign in Norway and ending shortly after VJ Day we see the war at sea through the eyes of someone not near the top of the ladder. You get a very good feel for what it was like in the naval war, all the hazards and joys of serving in a 'tin can'.
