This is a book told by four characters, a la Spoon River Anthology, whose lives intersect on one dark, fateful night. Laurie is excited because high school sexpot Quin asked her out on a date. Quin wants to get into Laurie's pants and has a drinking problem. Jeremy is a carpenter dood (foreshadowing!) in love with Annalise. Annalise has to stay out late babysitting some kids who live on a mountain then takes her bike home instead of asking for a ride. Quin hits her with his car when he's had one...more

The main characters of this story are Analise, Laurie, Quin, and Jeremy. The theme of this story is suspense because of how uplifting it feels because Laurie doesn’t want to say anything. When Analise does not return home from babysitting one night her parents immediately call everyone, including the police, to try and find her. They have no luck until the next morning when her badly in...more

Such a tough story.

One party, a few too many drinks, a chance bike ride, a chance date and leaving the party early. All of these pieces come together to create the perfect setting for a horrible accident.

This story is just heartbreaking. Because you can see how easy it would be. It's told through 4 people - the girl on the date & her date. The girl who is hit and her boyfriend. Through them, you can see all of the pieces of how this perfect storm can create such chaos and devastation.

But, e...more

I like how this book was written in the journal format from different people. In this book, Analise is a very poor girl because she was in an accident and she was in a coma for the whole book, and finally she died. However, Analise's boyfriend, Jeremy, is a very single-minded person because he never think of to leave Analise no matter how she looks like or how bad her situation is. I do not like Laurie because I do not agree with the way she deals with the car accident, she uses this event to th...more

Hit and run is a story told through the voice of four different people. Before I give my review I must say it was an emotional read for me in many ways. Lurlene McDaniels' books are always emotional, but I had several connections to this book. I'll try to be brief. As I read the opening, which were the thoughts of Analise I thought of two people. First was a boyfriend I had in my senior year. He was injured in a motorcycle accident and his parents were told he didn't understand anything going on...more

Maybe I am just not in to this type of novel, but I cannot remember a time when a mere 180 pages have felt quite so long. The basic plot is established pretty much by the title and the first few pages: a girl is hit by a while riding her bike down a mountain road by a boy from her high school who was returning home drunk from a party. The girl is then left in a coma while friends and family of the injured girl attempt to find the person responsible. Other than a couple inane twists (such as one...more

Good plot line. Bad characters. Hanging ending.

Maybe the ending was like the way it was on purpose, but all I can say was that I was extremely disappointed about how Analise just suddenly turned away from Jeremy, away from Laurie, away from everyone. I also wanted to see Quin's father's reaction, and many questions were left unanswered. Say, did Quin's father know all along of what Quin did? Or was did he know and was simply pretending to be ignorant for the sake of his son? Also, Laurie's famil...more

First, I need to point out that I love Lurlene McDaniel. I own most of her books and keep adding to the collection.

Sadly, this is not a stellar addition to the collection.

Quin, Laurie, and Annalise were well-written (Laurie the best of them). Jeremy, not so much.

It is an interesting take on a tragedy (as her books often are), focusing on the question of what is moral and looking at how people respond to things that happen in their lives.

One detail nit-pick: Locks of Love does not give wigs to ca...more

This was one of the best books I've ever read. Laurie was more than elated when Quin, the most popular seniors asks her out on a date. When he was driving her home, he hits something and claims it was a deer. Guilty and remorseful, Laurie realized that it was actually a girl in their school that they hit- Analise. It gets more complicated when Laurie threatens Quin by blackmailing him about hitting Analise. This book taught me a very big concept in life- responsibility. We are responsible for our...more

I really did LOVE this book.
when I first saw it, I was in a bookstore, and I as in there until closing reading that book.
but cursing my slow reading skills, I only finished half of it.

I was have a great summer vacation, but school was right around the corner, and I NEEDED to read a book!
so I went BACK to that bookstore a bought it.
why I didn't buy it the first time, I have no clue.

Also, I'm one of those people who read the last page, so I can spoil it.
But overall, I did see it coming, but there...more

this book was about a girl named Analise who gets hit by a car while riding her bike home one night and she dies. Quin, the star basketball player at his school, is the one driving the car when it hits Analise. Laurie was the passenger in the car but was asleep when it all happened. Quin didnt know that it was analise that he hit though. He just thought that it was a deer. When word gets out that it was a car that hit Analise, laurie starts putting together the pieces and relizes that it was Qui...more

Hit and Run is a very good book. If you like love books or mystery books then this has to be the one to read. I'll start by telling you about this couple that was driving home from a party. the girl was in the passenger seat almost asleep when they hit something. The boy got out of the van and was looking at what they hit and the damage on the van, he got back into the van and told her it was just a deer. Meanwhile there has been a police report going in about a missing girl. A few days or even...more

Hit and Run is based on the lifes of four different people, Analise, Laurie, Quin and Jeremy. I love this book because it goes into detail about the persons perspective. for example: Quin is the best Babeball payer at his school he has the looks and the popularity but when he chooses not to speak the truth the consequences rise. All Laurie ever wanted was to be popular like her mom was in high school but when she finally has a way to become popular she is now involved in the problom. Analise is...more

Hit and run is the one that i already read for October book, the author of this book is Lurlene McDaniel...
I think other people should read it because Analise died and all of her friends and family work for the box that she's gonna put it too and her friends really work for her when she's in the hospital...

The best thing about this book is that everybody learn that not all of the teenagers are practically good at biking and they won't actually get in trouble by having their own thinking or new l...more

This book was a really good book. i liked it. I thought at the end it was sad because Analisa had died and her boyfriend Jeremy was depress i know how he felt because it was his girlfriend and he loved her too much. He sid she will not be in his arms not any longer because she died. but that the only place he got to hold her again was in the coma. Quin and Laurie it was a stupid relatonship because they didnt even like each other but they were together for a secret and so Laurie wouldnt spill th...more

I love anything by Lurlene Mcdaniel. This book I started and finished in less than a day. Everything that I have ever read by her has been a tear jerker, but sometimes, that's ok. She writes inspirational books for teenagers. In this particular book, a freshman is asked on a date by mr popular senior, and goes to a party. He hits "something" which he says is a deer. Come to find out, another student was involved in a hit and run. This book teaches us that sometimes the "right" choice is not alwa...more

This book was okay but I'm not really into the depressing endings. This young girl is coming home from babysitting and these high school kids coming home from a party. On the way the high school kids hit the girl biking home which he thinks was just a deer. When the girl with the guy who were at the party discover what they really hit, she black mails him to date her so she can become popular. You figure this our pretty early so its not spoiling the ending but it's a pretty good book if you like...more
