The Battle Of The Atlantic was a crucial part in the defeat of Nazi Germany in W.W.II. Hal Lawrence served in the Canadian Navy for the duration. His account of life aboard the H.M.C.S. Sioux shows the appalling conditions under which him and his fellow seamen served. Lawrence also recalls some of the more amusing and earthy incidents which occurred and which helped to ease the burden of service. We stand in their debt.

This is a well-written and interesting personal history by an RCN (originally RCNVR) officer. The books is very engaging, and comprises detailed narratives of some actions interspersed with sketches of other aspect of the Battle of the Atlantic.
